An adventure in housekeeping

Level 1 Housewife is a webcomic by Askeryna.

Angrboda is one of the most powerful warriors in the realm, a hulking Amazon who lives by the sword.

…Or rather, she was, until she fell in love with a fruit merchant, got married and settled down to domestic life. But a life of adventure has left her woefully unprepared for such challenges as cooking, threading a needle or showing her husband affection without crushing his bones.

The high-level adventurer is starting at level 1 on the journey to wedded bliss.

Can be read on Tapas or Webtoon.note

Tropes:

  • Accidental Pervert: In one episode, Angrboda is settling down for sleep when she realizes her husband has reached around from behind and is caressing her breasts. He turns out to be asleep, having a dream of selling giant apples.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: When Hubby brings Angie to the priest to be resurrected, he finds it much easier carrying her than expected, and monsters in the forest are afraid to confront him. The priest silently surmises that accidentally killing his wife gave him experience and leveled him up.
  • All Periods Are PMS: Stella suffers serious discomfort during that time of the month. Angrboda does too, but she's inured to pain from what she endured while adventuring.
  • Amazon Chaser: Hubby found Angrboda's power and physique so attractive he proposed to her.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Angrboda's husband is a Pretty Boy and flashbacks show her reveling with attractive young women.
  • Bridal Carry: When the two are attacked by a gryphon, Angrboda is knocked over and Hubby tries to pick her up this way and carry her to safety. It doesn't end well.
  • Covered with Scars: Angrboda had gained a bunch of scars from her past adventures. Abel the tea shop owner, as well.
  • Covert Pervert: Angrboda frequently lusts after her husband in town. The "covert" part is debatable since she isn't good at hiding it.
  • Death Is Cheap: Angrboda keeps killing her husband from hugging him too hard. Fortunately, the local priest raises him for a nominal fee, and is pleased with the regular revenue stream.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: A frequent source of humor, Angrboda has trouble handling things delicately, including her husband.
  • Fourth-Date Marriage: Angrboda and Hubby got married after only a few weeks of traveling together.
  • Happily Married: Angrboda finds adjusting to domestic life frustrating at times, but she's very much in love with her husband. And he with her, although he doesn't get quite as googly-eyed about it.
  • Home Sweet Home: Angrboda is happily retired to marry Hubby.
  • Hot Librarian: Nina the nymph. Huge tracts of land, a seductive demeanor, and spews a constant stream of Innocent Innuendo. She attracts a lot of male patrons.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: Non-villainous version. When Angrboda slices up a gryphon in gory fashion, Hubby instantly falls for her and asks her to marry him.
  • Innocent Innuendo: Nina the librarian nymph constantly makes double-entendres that get male customers blushing. It's not clear if she even realizes what she's doing.
  • Lethal Chef: Angrboda had spent most of her life eating in taverns and grand banquets, so when she's expected to cook dinner, she's hopeless. When she tries relying on her monster-hunting skills and brings home a cooked dragon, she seems to find it pretty good while Hubby disagrees.
  • Love Makes You Stupid: In episode 61, they go on a picnic. Hubby tries playfully feeding her a grape and Angie gets so flustered she forgets how to swallow and chokes to death. The priest is surprised and amused when Hubby brings in her to be resurrected instead of the other way around.
  • Made of Iron: Angrboda, naturally, but also her husband has built up a lot of damage resistance due to repeatedly being accidentally mangled by her.
  • Mr. Fanservice: In episode 58, a flashback has Abel preparing to open his tea shop while the town ladies gawk and drool. Stella and her friend push through the crowd to see what's going on, and get a view of Abel with his shirt pulled up revealing his six-pack abs, and his pants barely staying up.
    Stella: I suddenly feel thirsty.
    Stella's friend: For tea.
    Stella: For tea.
  • Mysterious Past: It's not clear what Angrboda is or where she came from. Even she seems to be very hazy about her origins, all she can recall of her previous life is adventuring and monster-slaying.
  • No Name Given: Her husband is not named. Angrboda always calls him "Hubby."
  • Our Orcs Are Different: Orcs live alongside humans and try not to get into fights. Although, one orc got mad when his wife was hit on.
  • Refreshingly Normal Life-Choice: Angrboda retired to be a housewife. In one comic, she celebrates being able to kiss her husband without fainting.
  • Sacrificed Basic Skill for Awesome Training: If the title didn't tip you off, Angrboda is a super-strong monster slayer, but she couldn't thread a needle or cook dinner to save her life.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: They have eyes only for each other. When Hubby spends time at the library researching, he doesn't even notice Nina's huge breasts or constant innuendoes. Likewise, when her friends are drooling over Abel, Angie only imagines fighting him.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: He's only a little shorter than average but she's a giant.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Angrboda started off as a Barbarian Hero who could kill monsters with her barehands. After marrying Hubby, she's taken to dressing more feminine and much of the comic's humor comes from her trying (with limited success) to perform domestic duties as a housewife.
