HoodRats! is a webcomic written by ShutUpJoJo (better known for having created Needlem0use).

The webcomic focuses on the titular "Hoodrats", a group of super-powered delinquents that inhabit the Lush Green Lands and do their best to act as heroes.

A Friday Night Funkin' mod made by ShutUpJoJo themselves was eventually released, and will receive an update sometime in the future.

The courageous tropes are:

  • Art Evolution: As the comic progressed, the drawings and designs kept improving.
  • Big Bad: Oscurita is the main antagonist of the comic and the Arch-Enemy of the Hoodrats.
  • Evil Counterpart:
    • Prince can be considered one to Kermit since he has Super-Speed powers similar to the latter's.
    • The Labrats are a more straight example of this for the Hoodrats as a whole.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Judging by what they say in "Heroes!", the Hoodrats aren't usually seen as heroes by others but rather as vigilantes or troublemakers.
    • While "Heroes!" is no longer canon to the webcomic, Marbles is shown having a very low opinion on the Hoodrats.
  • N-Word Privileges: The comic sometimes uses the N word due to the creator being a black person and the comic itself using suburban humor.
  • Protagonist Title: The comic is named after the main protagonists, although the title has the capital R, while the titular group doesn't.
  • Retcon:
    • Cindy was originally 39 years old before it was retconned to make her be 51.
    • The designs of various characters received major changes. The most notable examples are Oscurita and Cindy.
    • Stella was originally Kermit's little sister before it being retconned to make her his twin sister.
    • Some of the ROMs'note  names were changed.
  • The Voiceless:
    • Kermit is the only member of the Hoodrats who never talks, and when he finally does, his friends are surprised because they thought he couldn't speak at all.
    • Abby doesn't speak at all in the short time we see her.
