"I AM LORD OF THE PANTS!!!"
MangaKamen is a YouTube content creator and animator on his channel of the same name
which started in 2013. He creates commentaries, draw and rants, and reviews covering anime, western cartoons, and video games.
MangaKamen and his videos contain the following examples:
- Animal Motifs: Griffins. Three of his six Original Characters are griffins.
- Arch-Enemy: Has two:
- MatPat. Kamen has covered at least eight of his videos. Subverted in that while Kamen has nothing against Mat as a person, he doesn't appreciate the amount of errors his videos tend to have. Eventually, he stopped covering him as he started to move away from commentaries in general, though on rare occasions he still makes jabs at his expense and may do a commentary if prompted enough.
- TheMetalBlade5. Metal had accused Kamen of manipulating the words of his targets at least twice, and Kamen responded to these accusations in Metal's comments section. Due to audience overlap, with both channels gaining much of their initial popularity with their commentaries on GameTheory and discussing similar topics, it became particularly messy until the two agreed to drop it and never speak of it again.
- Author Avatar: MangaKamen has made several of these. One of these is Skull Kamen, a skeletal ghost of a griffin. He has made a joke about his tendency to change his avatars rather often.
- Berserk Button: Quite a few.
- Don't tell him that he only makes commentaries on Game Theory. He'll be quick to correct you.
- Don't tell him that he should stop covering Game Theory. It's his channel. He'll decide when he's had enough.
- If you and Kamen use the same social media network, don't criticize his channel behind his back. If you have a problem with his content, tell it to his face.
- Being associated with The Commentary Community. He may be a slideshow commentator himself, but he has his reasons to distance himself from the community as a whole. Eventually, he pivoted his channel direction away from commentaries almost entirely.
- Character Catchphrase: "You're not Mentok the Mindtaker", sometimes used in response to people trying to assume another person's reasoning or thought process without any proof or evidence.
- Cosmic Plaything: It later became less prevalent, but for a time it was common in his videos that he became injured as a result of random slapstick violence or invoking the wrath of Arceus.
- Hidden Depths: Apparently has a degree in Political Science.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: His more recent videos have him quick to grab a bottle in response to bad faith declarations.
- Meaningful Name: Skull Kamen is the ghost of a griffin's skeleton. Al K. Holic drinks a lot. Trash Kamen is a robot.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Skull Kamen is a ghost who is also the skeleton of a griffin.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: His old commentary OC, Skull Kamen, is the ghost of a griffin's skeleton.
- Running Gag: Using media clips, and later sound bites as well. Especially of movies from the 90s, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Yu-Gi-Oh! (or moreso its Abridged Series), Devil May Cry, or Kamen Rider. Some clips/sound bites, such as Mr. Belt’s epic Spit Take (sometimes extended to show the rest of the multi-character Spit Take), "OH NOOO!", "LIAR!", "That was truly cringeworthy", and "Oh no, they're stealing the tire fire!", among others, are some of Kamen's particular favorites.
- Manga's love of snow cones.
- Self-Deprecation: MangaKamen has made this video, in which he pokes fun at himself in the style of CinemaSins.
- Signing Off Catchphrase: "Remember to examine your fandom."
- Trademark Favorite Food: Snow cones.
- Vocal Dissonance: Downplayed but Manga has quite a “pretty boy” looking avatar even with the leather biker jacket, so one wouldn’t really expect a slightly rough dudebro voice to come out of his mouth.
