WMG / The Seven Deadly Sins

Go To

Merlin is a member of the Goddess Clan.
If the 'no Sin is from the same race' pattern remains true, then the Goddess clan is the only one she can be from, since they're the only clan with no representative.
  • Based on the context of the scene it would be the five other members who are of different clans. Also it seem's hinted that Merlin might be something completly different form a goddess or Demon.
  • Confirmed. She's Half Goddess, Half Demon. The child of The Demon King and The Supreme Goddess, making her half sister of both Meliodas, and the original Elizabeth.
  • Scrap the above, that was just a mistranslation. Merlin has been blessed by them, not conceived, she is the daughter of that Sorcerer in Belialuin.

Gowther is aloof, uses a bow and shapeshifts.
Gowther might be an elf...
  • JOSSED! he's a doll made by a demon.

Elizabeth is Liz's daughter.
It's either implied or stated the Liz was a sex slave, so it would make sense if she had a child before she met Meliodas. It would explain the resemblance.
  • Jossed. Elizabeth was born immediately after or when Danafor was destroyed and Liz wasn't pregnant. Plus, generally you can't be the reincarnation of your own mother!

Elizabeth was adopted after her parents were killed.
Meliodas did destroy the entire kingdom....

Gowther is Abeforth Dumbledore.
Goat. Lust. Nuff said...

Zaratras was evil.
We have been shown a very obvious Cain and Abel situation. Who says Zaratras hasn't got his own skeletons in his closet?
  • Jossed He was pretty cool and even in death blamed himself for failing to protect his brother and Hendrickson from getting possessed by Fraudrin.

Zaratras was originally possessed by Fraudrin, or is Fraudrin.
  • This explains a number of things. First, Fraudrin is said to have been in possession of Dreyfus' body for ten years - coincidentally around the same timespan since Zaratras' murder. Second, it's been strongly hinted over and over that Dreyfus and Hendricksen were both originally good and noble knights up to the point of Zaratras' murder, in which they crossed into the Moral Event Horizon by framing the Sins. This theory explains both cases: Zaratras either was possessed by Fraudrin in the beginning (or is Fraudrin himself), Dreyfus and Hendricksen learned about it and took him out, but ended up with Fraudrin transferring to Dreyfus' body and corrupting both to his own ends (or at least Hendricksen anyway; he might have kept Dreyfus in his original state to serve as an Unwitting Pawn).
    • Jossed Zaratras was never possessed, and considering his will and resolve like his brother's, couldn't be possessed.

Elizabeth and Liz are part of the Goddess Clan/Holy Maiden Clan.
I just want to post this before it's confirmed. Would also explain the above WMG.
  • Zig-Zagged but Confirmed. Elizabeth is Liz reincarnation and Liz is the reincarnation of the originally Elizabeth who was a goddess.

Merlin and Gowther are somehow related.
There are several facts that hint this:
  • Both of them are physically alike.
  • Both of them can use illusion powers, change their appearance and modify memories.
  • Merlin and Sir Gowther were half brother in the Arthurian myths.
  • Given Gowther's lack of grasp on human emotions and robotic mannerisms, is probably that Merlin (who is more normal)is his mother/creator.
    • It's kinda more likely that they're half siblings if the Arthurian myths are going to be followed. Also where again was it shown that Merlin can change her appearance?
    • I though that too, but the why does Merlin acts like a normal person and Gowther acts like a robot. He seems to be a artificial life, she doesn't. And about the change of appearance, when she was under the cloak we saw her bare arm. Later, she is wearing a long sleeved jacket. She hadn't time to change the clothes, so probably used magic.
    • Half siblings are siblings who share only one parent, as in they may have the same father but not the same mother or vice-versa. According to the Arthurian legends, Merlin was fathered by a fay or demon with one woman. Said creature then fathered Gowther with another woman. If the manga should follow the legends then the reason for Gowther acting like a robot and Merlin acting normally maybe because of that. They both may have different mothers from probably different races.
As for the arm, don't know whether showing it bare from underneath a cloak and then later showing a sleeved jacket after said cloak is destroyed counts as a change of appearance via magic? It could be that but then again considering the jacket is the only other piece of clothing she has, how hard would it be to put it on in no time.
  • Gowther's creator is revealed to be a deceased member of the Ten Commandments.
  • Bear in mind that the story doesn't strictly follow the Arturian legends, which would be hard to do anyway, since there are multiple versions of the stories (just look at the entries on Wikipedia).

Gowther is an incubus
It would explain his powers and apparent immortality. Without his armour suppressing his power, he's starting to act like a lust demon too.
  • Nope, he's just a magical puppet.

If/when Guinevere shows up, she will be a Half-Human Hybrid.
In Welsh Arthurian myths, Guinevere (Gwenhwyfar) is the daughter of Ogyruan, who is believed to be either a giant or the god of bards. While the offspring of a god is unlikely, a giant or a fairy is probable.
  • Maybe an Apostle Goddess reincarnation just like Elizabeth

Now that Escanor has been revealed...
Escanor becomes buff and looks like the badass grandpa during the day. And will have a prideful Split Personality.
  • Confirmed apart from his age.

Hendrickson is Elizabeth's father or is somehow related to her...
It is said she's not related to the king by blood and Hendrickson is the only other person stated to be a Druid aside from her. Looking at his age, at 39 he's certainly old enough to be her father, being about 23 around the time of her birth. They even have similar hair and eye color, though that could be written off as a part of the Druid clan's genetics.
  • It's Druid clan genetics. The author has stated silver (or light) hair is pretty normal for Druids. Also, we've met other Druids, they're still around.

Speculation on Meliodas
I think it's going to turn out that Meliodas is half demon, half druid (i.e. goddess). The reason the goddesses want him killed is that they consider him to be sacrilege just by existing.
  • Half-confirmed. He's full Demon, and the son of the Demon King.

"Matrona" is actually Dolores
The flashback didn't really show Dolores dying, but just a mention from Matrona. Furthermore, when Matrona rescued Diane again, she doesn't talk at all. Mayhaps Dolores took a couple of levels in badass during the intervening period?
  • Unless Dolores replicated Matrona's injuries ... actually that doesn't sound impossible, if rather difficult.

Elizabeth isn't the first time Meliodas' lover has reincarnated.
It would explain why he saved Liz when he first met her in Danafor, despite it apparently being the first time they've met. He'd already met, and fallen in love with, her in the past and recognized her, even if she didn't recognize him. He just keeps on meeting, becoming friends with then falling in love with Elizabeths over the course of his life. It would explain why he immediately trusted the present Elizabeth.
  • Confirmed. Meliodas originally fell in love with a goddess clan member named Elizabeth and looked like present Elizabeth twin. The current Elizabeth is reincarnation number 106, following the original Goddess Elizabeth.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will show up
With character names themed around the Seven Deadly Sins and the Ten Commandments, it would be logical that the next villains could be called the Four Horsemen (Conquest, War, Famine, Death). They could either be demons, or heavenly entities sent to judge the Earth a la Revelation.
  • It is revealed in chapter 187, that the Goddesses have "The Four Great Angels" as some of their most powerful fighters, it would likely be their Biblical Motifs to go with "The Seven Deadly Sins" and "The Ten Commandments".
  • Confirmed in Four Knights of the Apocalypse

King will meet Fairy King Dhalia in the Capital of the Dead
Nakaba gave us his and Gloxinia's names apparently for no reason at all and then Gloxinia became important, so the same could happen with his sucessor. He may give King some advice about Gloxinia or about whatever issue he has with his (lack of) wings.

The Vampire Gelda is not dead
Seeing as how Gelda's fate was never directly shown, it can be assumed that she's Just Hiding and will eventually be used as leverage against Zeldris.
  • Considering Zeldris now has a way of learning what happened it's very likely he'll head to Edinburgh to check.

King will get his wings as an 11th-Hour Superpower.
Wings are seen as a sign of maturity (Fairy puberty) and grant fairies even more magical power. King will likely get them during his fight with the first fairy king Gloxinia, or to protect Diane.
  • Eh, kinda? He got stronger, but to Meliodas' and Ban's amusement, his wings are still pretty small.

The true second season of the anime will end with chapter 179.
As chapter 180 opens with after a Time Skip Elizabeth running the bar while Meliodas is comatose, and most of Britania under control of The Ten Commandments. Season 3 will start with chapter 180, to the end of The Ten Commandments arc.

The King ordered the Fairy King's Forest demon released.
Now that it's been revealed the Seven Deadly Sins were formed to defeat the Ten Commandments, because of King Baltra's vision power. Wouldn't it be a shame if they didn't have the seven needed? What if he ordered at least one of them framed? Release a red demon from ancient Goddess Amber to create Ban`s hatred of demons, order Matrona attacked in order to arrest Diane, for the greater good.
  • Given Merlin and Gowther Blue And Orange Moralty and Meliodas Unfettered drive to not let another incarnation of Elizabeth die again. I would say this is frighteningly likely.

King's wings have begun to grow as a result of Melodias using Full Counter against King's own Disaster magic.
When Melodias and King spar in the land of the Druids, the details of King's power, Disaster, are finally revealed. Specifically, it is the power to enhance either the growth or decay of living things, shown by King turning a scratch on Melodias into a gaping gash. During their fight, Melodias uses Full Counter against King's magic (King's spell being "Status Enhancement" or "Status Promotion", depending on the translation). King initially believed this attack was ineffective because he did not have a wound for Disaster to amplify. However, he does notice a strange pain in his back when he exits the cave.

FC'ed Disaster did trigger something in King at that time, which was his ungrown wings. Notice how King could not invoke the True Chastefoil before that fight without inflicting damage on himself, yet at the Fighting Festival later he displays a newfound ability to use multiple True forms of his Sacred Treasure, albeit with some difficulty. Even Gloxinia was mystified at the depths of King's magic. This explanation also fits in well with King's vice of Sloth - he had the power to make his wings grow all along.

Coveted lust
  • It seems likely that the crimes that gave Gowther his "Goat's Sin of Lust" title is what broke his Selflessness Commandment.

Duel between night and day.
One of the opponents that Escanor has to fight will have the same power as him, but the strength change will be in relation to the moon (strongest at midnight, weakest at noon), and he will use ice-elemental attacks.
  • Adding on to this. This will be the power of a fourth demon king child. (Look up the legend of Shuten-Doji.)
  • For further Guessing. This character will be the demon graylord created from Merlin's experiments. Bonus points if she change her name to Morgan Le fay.

Elizabeth of the Daughter of the Goddess Clan's Queen.
The four archangel each referred to her as lady and she show's great power by being able to reverse the Indura transformation.

When Zeldris hears about Gelda fate...
He'll throw caution to the wind and head north to Edinburgh to find the crater and check if she is alive. If alive munch of his hatred toward Meliodas will cool. If she isn't, he will vow vengeance against Meliodas and will attempt to find and kill Elizabeth and stop her from reincarnating by eating her soul. Alternatively, he won't act at all showcasing how munch his emotions have dulled.

Elaine will die shortly after chapter 230
When she gained her wings you will note not only are they bigger than she is, but they go down past her feet, by around 2 feet, meaning she would be unlikely to be able to walk around with them hence this theory.
  • It hasn't happened yet as of chapter 275, but how would having to fly instead of walk mark her for death? Because we couldn't have a wheelchair-bound demon for more than a handful of chapters?

Nanashi is this worlds version of Lancelot.
I have no basis, other than the fact that he's training Arthur, implying that he is the superior fighter. He also comes from a foreign land, like Lancelot was in the old myth.
  • Jossed so, so hard. In the epilogue, Ban and Elaine have a kid. They name him Lancelot. Lancelot is technically the prince of the Fairy race, fitting the "Comes from a foreign land" part of the Arthurian Lancelot. To add to that, Meliodas and Elizabeth have a kid that they name Tristan.

Arthurs parents are Uther Pendragon and Merlin
She stated that she was her hope. She knew about him and raised him. Her sin has not even been hinted at and Merlin in the original mythology played a massive role in Arthur's conception.

Escanor power is related to the goddess
with the revelation that demon's are empowered by night in chapter 237 and goddess being the demon polar opposite. It sound too coincidental for Escanor power not to be related to the Goddesses.
  • Kind of confirmed. Somehow, a Grace that belonged to one of the Archangels ended up in Escanor.

Elizabeth was the Archangel of Hope before she lost her immortality.
Aside from the other archangels being nature-themed, this theory fits the plot:
  • Literally Elizabeth's first appearance is her getting help for Liones, bringing them hope in the form of warriors to fight the Holy Knights.
  • Over time (perhaps since Elizabeth was exiled to earth?) the Goddess Clan became colder and more judgemental- they lost hope that humans could ever understand/obey angelic plans of their own free will, and that even sinners could be redeemed.
  • Elizabeth was the only motivation Meliodas had to continue on after Danafor's destruction.
  • Mythologically, Pandora's Box was said to contain, among all the evils/'sins' of the world, hope. Which dovetails with how Elizabeth tends to follow the Sins.
  • Jossed. There are FOUR archangels: Ludociel, Sariel, Tarmiel, and Mael. Also, there seems to be some Theme Naming in that all of the Archangels have names ending in "el," so there's that.

Meliodas can undo his 'Destroy everything' spell given enough power.
This way, Gelda is revivable, which would give Zeldoris the incentive to change his mind about working with Meliodas.

Meliodas' curse is the Mark of Torment.

That's not an ahoge.
It's Meliodas's demon horns.

Derrierie's Commandment of "Purity" has something to do with breaking weapons/crafted items.
  • When Denzel/ Nerobasta tried to strike Derrierie, the sword broke. Other weapons similarly broke on her. When Meliodas fought her after his resurrection, he never uses his weapon on her, even though he has it in his hand - he only uses his other hand and his feet to attack. Likely, he had to have it out to maintain the clone he was sending to the castle. At least one other weapon breaks upon her skin during the siege. It seems as if weapons won't injure her.

Merlin manipulated the other Sins' lives so they would become the Seven Deadly Sins,
  • Escanor apparently knew something judging from his final words with her and it's been revealed that she manipulated a battle with the Demon King and gathered the Sins for the purpose of unbalancing the world to unleash Chaos. While it's unknown how far she really interfered, it's likely that she had a hand in bestowing Elizabeth and Meliodas's curses, tricked Humans into worshiping the Demons and thinking that Fairy wings could be used for medicine, convinced a group of Holy Knights to assassinate Matrona, sent the Demon that killed Elaine and destroyed the original Fairy King's Forest, struck Nadja Liones with a fatal illness, and bestowed Escanor with Mael's Grace Sunshine while taking the form of 'Rosa' to help him escape, creating a false vision into the afterlife to sway him into joining the Sins.

The Supreme Deity will be the Big Bad of an OVA Movie after the anime's finale.
