The Foreclaimers got what they deserved
I mean, come on. They created a civilization powered by stealing( and possibly destroying) the souls of everyone nearby. Everything we learn about them makes they sound more and more like the villains of a fantasy novel. Eventually, they pissed off someone who was strong enough - or got strong enough - to make them regret it. By the same token, the Foreclaimer survivors will be the antagonists of a later arc. Gothi was a case of My Species Doth Protest Too Much. Or possibly Amnesiac Dissonance. Goddrick was either the Token Evil Teammate of the Precursor Killer, a typical example of a Foreclaimer, or just an opportunistic Jerkass takin advantage of the end of their world to torment some people he had unrelated grudges against.
  • It was at least a case of Evil vs. Evil.
    • Considering that Felix released materials stating that they almost universally lack any concept of empathy, it’s very likely they were evil.
    • The details note they are effectively Lawful Neutral; their morality is essentially utilitarian as it solely focuses on how things benefit their race. This effectively puts them under Blue-and-Orange Morality which can easily lead them to committing evil acts.
  • The details released by Felix (as mentioned above) give a better picture of what happened. Foreclaimers naturally have no emotions but if they are in some way isolated from their own race and spend time around others can slowly develop them, including anger. Somehow Xanu was separated from his race and developed feelings of intense hatred towards them, either due to rejection or some other act of the Foreclaimers, like wiping out his new friends. This resulted in Xanu experimenting to increase his power before beginning his assault.
  • Confirmed (to an extent) as of episode 18. Depending on how trustworthy Xanu is, the Foreclaimers constantly experimented on souls to create "perfection", and upon creating him (Xanu), they stuffed him in a cell and experimented on him further despite being an artificial god. He decided to commit genocide on them out of revenge. So far, Gothi's memories and discoveries line up with this, though time will tell if any information is still hidden (deliberately or not).
Sips is a reincarnation of Xanu.
  • Think about it. Sips keeps hearing Xanu's voice, he saw a memory of Xanu's through his eyes, and Sips has a crystal in his forehead. It just makes sense. Xanu is Sips' past life.
    • Jossed. Xanu was split into the various crystals, and Sips just had one of them placed in his head by Quinn-Ora.
Quinn-Ora originally had Xanu's crystal until a stupid monkey ate it
  • Quinn-Ora was initially surprised by Sips possessing magic and later implies that something else happened the night Sips was Awakened. Rewind and Quinn-Ora not only possessed the usual voodoo items but a large fragment of Xanu's crystal in her hut. After bringing Sips to the hut she started preparing the hand transplant and, while her back was turned, the stupid monkey was dazzled by the crystal and ate it. Quinn-Ora didn't notice this at first and attached the hand. The surge of magic from this clashed with Xanu's crystal, both Awakening Sips and causing Xanu's soul to start waking from his slumber.
    • The crystal is also the source of Sips's wild magic, not the hand. The crocodile claw was a regular hand which she was going to use to transform Sips into a hybrid, just like the people of Alchemist's Quarry. The crystal stalled the transformation but the magic driving it is still present. When Sips's magic "goes wild" it weakens the crystal's ability to block the transformation, letting it advance.
  • Semi-confirmed. Quinn-Ora planned to use the crystal and cursed hand to turn Sips into an unstoppable abomination she could dominate. Xanu was able to give Sips consciousness beyond even that of an Awakened animal and their two souls were able to resist Quinn-Ora's curse.
Goddrick betrayed Gothi in order to take control of the Foreclaimer survivors
  • Goddrick, much like other Foreclaimers, likely viewed Gothi as defective due to her empathy. Assuming her family also perished in the chaos, whether by Goddrick or Xanu's constructs, Goddrick's status may have put him in the position to seize control of the survivors. With Gothi eliminated, he now rules on the other side of the portal and will be a Big Bad for the party.
    • This is also why he carved off her face. Foreclaimers are cold and logical so he wouldn't have done this just for the sake of sadism. Foreclaimers are experts at body modification so it's entirely possible he took Gothi's face and transplanted it onto another who posed as Gothi. Letting Gothi live likely served a purpose as well - for example, her soul might have ended up in one of the Foreclaimer soul crystals and would have revealed the deception.
      • Partly Jossed: Episode 25 reveals that Xanu gave Gothi immortality before the attack, which is why she's still alive past the usual Foreclaimer lifespan of 1400 years. So Goddrick is likely dead, unless he found a means to extend his life even further. In addition, this reveal means it's possible Goddrick never meant to keep Gothi alive — he just wasn't able kill her. However, due to this, he might be the reason why she ended up clueless and without her power crystal: Since he wasn't able to take her life, he did the next best thing and took her memories.
    • Partially confirmed in Episode 29. Goddrick took control of the Old Society Foreclaimers as their Emperor, but has since died of old age. However, his grandson Goddrick III now rules over the Old Society and is the Big Bad of the arc.

The foreclaimers originally had empathy and it was slowly coming back

Perhaps it was a cultural thing, perhaps their empathy was suppressed by magic, but at some point they lost that part of themselves. Gothi was the first foreclaimer to regain he empathy and survive, if their society had survived they would have all regained it eventually. However, This would have destroyed their society as they realized the horrors they had commited.

Vicky is secretly a werewolf

  • It may explain why she wasn't cursed when Sips touched her: because she's already cursed to begin with. And her sad/angry "I hate werewolves" speech could foreshadow that she's projecting her resentment towards her curse. ...What's more, Sips will have to be the one to reach out to werewolf!Vicky and "bring her back" (The way she promised she would help "bring back" Sips from his curse).
    • Confirmed in its entirety as of episode 21.

The Foreclaimers, with the exception of Gothi, no longer exist.
Xanu is so determined to get to the other side of the portal to start a genocide, and Gothi is the only known living Foreclaimer on this side of the portal. However, there hasn't been any evidence to suggest that the Foreclaimers on the other side of the portal continue to exist. We've heard speculation, mostly from Sips, that if they were alive, it would be a whole other generation since the people that created and tortured Xanu. But, there's not real evidence to suggest that the Foreclaimers still exist at all. So, after Xanu enters the portal and comes out the other side, he'll find that that his plan to Pay Evil unto Evil has failed because there is no one left to pay his Evil onto, and that now he is alone, without purpose and without any means of relieving himself of centuries worth of built up anger.
  • Jossed in Episode 26, which shows that not only are they still around, they seem to have split into two factions.

Sneeze, not Gothi, has the final unclaimed crystal shard.
Considering Gothi is not confirmed to have a crystal shard, and Sneeze passed out at the same time Sips did back when Bouclaire got murdered, it seems likely Sneeze has it somewhere in his body. It might be something he only obtained after he was resurrected, however, since Sneeze's decapitation had no physical effect on Sips.
  • Jossed in Episode 25. Before getting the shard out of Ohio Jack, Xanu stated there were four shards, which included the one on the other side of the portal, one Gothi had, one on Erina's ring and one in Jack's stomach. Now, there's only three left for him to get: the one on the other side of the portal, Erina's ring and the one Gothi has (which she has made a deal to give to him as a part of a deal to see if the Foreclaimers are still "monsters" as Xanu believes, or if there's any chance of redeeming them).

The foreclaimers had to find another power source for their crystals

Notice how in episode 27 the forclaimer who has a power crystal has a silver glow, not a golden one? At some point after they fled though the portal they lost access to the technology and had to adapt.
