Fridge Brilliance

  • Of course Potato Girl didn't have a French accent. If she did, it would've made her just a slight more recognizable.
  • Sips being an awakened one is explained with Xanu's ability. Sips isn't an awakened monkey: he's a monkey Xanu gave an intelligent soul!
  • Gothi's mask is depicted as flat with no curve to allow for the nose, most evident in a profile shot of her bare face which fades into a profile shot of her mask clearly showing her mask wouldn't cover the nose. This isn't just an artistic simplification, the mask really is flat because Gothi has no nose beneath the mask.
  • Upon discovering the mech dragon, Ohio Jack asks when the group was planning on telling him about it, to which Sips says "Never". Passed off as a gag of Sips being a jerk and Jack being disliked, but there'd actually be a practical reason for this - the dragon is Foreclaimer tech, so if Jack knew about it, he may have tried to take it from them. And they're not going to give up a giant mech dragon with deadly laser beams.
    • Plus Jack had told the group that they could keep anything they found while searching for the crystals he wanted. As far as they were concerned, they had no reason to tell Jack about anything besides the crystals he'd hired them to collect.
  • The Mercury Dragon absorbs the souls and bodies of its victims into its Mind Hive. Mercury, the metal, is great at amalgamating, and is capable of consuming nearly every other metal.
  • Notably, in Episode 20, all three story arcs involve Soul Magic in one form or another. Sips' arc has Xanu teach him (and the audience) about the nature of Soul Magic. Erina meets the Soul Prowler that collects souls by removing them from their bodies in the same fashion Xanu does. Gothi witnesses the use of Soul Magic when Jack uses it to subdue the Moss Dragon into a catatonic state.
  • In Episode 23, Gothi is able to convince Gran, a bakery owner who has just broken out a shotgun because of the things she's heard from Jack, Ernia and Sips, to allow them to enter the bakery's basement without any conflict. When asked how she was able to do that by one of the party members, Gothi says, "I speak old lady." It makes sense when you remember that she started off the campaign as an old lady.
  • In Episode 5, Quinn-Ora calls upon "The God of the Second Sun or some sh*t" right before Sips' curse starts increasing out of control. This was just after she claimed to realize where Sips's power came from. Quinn-Ora was likely calling on Xanu, whose crystal she knew was in Sips's head, which caused Xanu to stop holding the curse back.
  • "Old Gothi" as a character concept is a meta example, as it could potentially let someone who's just getting started in D&D play as a "joke" character with no real care for their stats, essentially spectating without having to be a true, third-party spectatornote . Then, when they're comfortable with the game and want to actually play for real, and have made a proper character sheet, the DM can just retcon a Foreclaimer crystal into the next pile of loot the party finds, and assuming nobody loses, breaks, sells, or otherwise f(Quack!)ks with said crystal, the novice player can use it to essentially switch to a new character without forcing the DM to spend a significant amount of time, effort, and aspirin/booze rewriting half the campaign in the process.

Fridge Horror

  • Sips says that Abby is one of Quinn-Ora's "cursed furries". Abby doesn't confirm or deny this. If Abby really is a polymorphed humanoid turned into a red panda, just how many other people did Qinn-Ora turn before she was defeated?
    • Considering that only a few citizens in Alchemist Quarry are anthropomorphic animals....
  • Speaking of Alchemist Quarry, how many people were killed before Quinn-Ora managed to bring down the tarrasque?
  • The dark crystal in the mech dragon is powered by souls, and as we see when Sips and Gothi go into it to find Sneeze's soul, the souls are conscious and aware. And we know that the crystal runs the soul dry in order to power the dragon. Repeat: The souls are conscious and aware that they're being eaten away to power the mech dragon.
