Smoldep's Magickal Adventure 2: Even Gayer
is a Stylistic Suck Visual Novel written by Athanasynt/Ash S., and the sequel to their earlier work Smoldeps Magickal Adventure. A complete "playthrough", without audio, was uploaded to their YouTube account and can be viewed here.
This visual novel provides examples of:
- Author Avatar: Amanda. The sprite for her is quite literally a real photo of the author. Her existence serves mostly to play out a Rage Against the Author moment.
- Author Powers: Amanda uses hers as Author's Retaliation. The result is ‘no more Smoldep games’.
- Big Bad: Prof. Momo, who shoots Smoldep in the opening, and then tries to separate her from You.
- Desecrating the Dead: In the route where You make a Senseless Sacrifice, Smoldep kicks over your gravestone for fun.
- Direct Line to the Author: The "You Win!" ending has Smoldep summon the author just to complain about the story's length to their face.
- Female Feline, Male Mutt: Played straight with Smoldep and Prof. Momo. They even share most personality traits associated with the trope.
- Immortality Begins at Twenty: After the Time Skip that happens if you choose to do something while Smoldep and Prof. Momo are fighting, Smoldep brings this up, as she and Prof. Momo look exactly the same after all those years.
- Jerkass: Nearly everyone is one. Smoldep throws insults around like nothing and does things For the Evulz, Prof. Momo impersonates Robert Downey Jr. just to spite Smoldep, and the Author Avatar refuses to continue making the game because Smoldep won’t respond to her texts.
- Latex Perfection: Robert Downey Jr., who tries to break up You and Smoldep by offering you an acting job, turns out to be a perfectly-disguised Prof. Momo.
- Medium Awareness: You have an Oh, Crap! moment when You remember that this is a game made in Google Slides, and that You have no way to name yourself when Robert Downey Jr. asks for the player character’s name.
You: “(thinking) OH shit THIS FUCKING GOOGLE SLIDES DOESN’T LET YOU ENTER A NAME.”
- Multiple Endings: Unlike the previous installment, Even Gayer has at least three endings. The fourth requires the player to click the "anywhere" in the "Press anywhere to continue" at a specific point during the "You Win!" route.
- Refuge in Audacity: The option to "Quit" on the main menu directs to a page on suicide methods.
- Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies: The "You Win!" ending states that "Every1" dies after the author gets fed up with Smoldep's complaints.
- Self-Deprecation: Smoldep and You openly state how bad the story is a few times.
- Senseless Sacrifice: If you decide to try intervening in the fight between Smoldep and Prof. Momo, you die instantly.
- Smart People Play Chess: Prof. Momo announces a ‘stalemate’ in the fight between him and Smoldep.
Prof.Momo: Stalemate?
Smoldep: I…don’t…play…chess…
Prof.Momo: A draw, you bloody nonce.
- Time Skip: The ending that follows your Senseless Sacrifice cuts ahead 69 years to Smoldep and Prof. Momo visiting your grave.
- Troll: There are multiple points where the game attempts to Rickroll you, from Smoldep suggesting a BGM change to clicking the Credits button in the main menu.
- Who Writes This Crap?!: Both Smoldep and You complain about the quality of the writing.
