2D platforming and top-down puzzles combine!
Toodee and Topdee is a Retraux 2D platformer/top-down puzzle crawler hybrid game developed and published by dietzribi and released on August 4, 2021.

In the beginning, the Universe was empty of everything but a god named Aleph. One day, longing for company, he created a world with living creatures. He also created an assistant named Toodoo to help him manage his new worlds. With Toodoo's help, Aleph created more worlds, and to help stabilize the worlds, he forged the Semicolon, a mystical object that physically binds every world together to allow them to move in perfect harmony. One day, believing that Aleph would no longer need him once their work was done, Toodoo steals the Semicolon, and every one of Aleph's world merge together, causing Toodee, an inhabitant of Aleph's first world meets up with Topdee, an inhabitant of another world, and the two must team up to travel the newly merged world and recover the Semicolon.

Gameplay in the game revolves around moving Toodee through 2D platforming stages, and then switching to another dimension at the press of a button to allow Topdee to rearrange the level and make modifications to make the level easier.

Tropes

  • Final Boss, New Dimension: When confronting Toodoo, Toodee and Topdee fuse to pursue him into the third dimension.
  • Glitch Entity: Parodied in the game. Aleph inadvertently creates several Eldritch beings which he names the Glitches. He creates Toodoo to help him deal with the Glitches. The Glitches also join Toodee and Topdee to help them separate the worlds.
  • Idiot Ball: Toodoo makes a mess of all of the game's worlds when he decides to steal the Semicolon, the physical harmonizer that keeps all the world moving around each other peacefully.
  • Physical God: Aleph, who created all the worlds in the game's universe out of boredom and a desire for creativity.
  • Thin Dimensional Barrier: The player can switch between Toodee's world and Topdee's world with the press of a button, and what Topdee does on his dimension directly affects Toodee's, and vice-versa.
  • When Dimensions Collide: Toodee's world of 2D platforming combines with Topdee's world of top-down dungeon crawling, and the player can switch between the two.
