An interactive community
Tattered World is a virtual online community that includes avatar personalization, leveling and interacting with creatures called kith, crafting such as cooking and tailoring, and interactions with NPCs through quests and story events. It was first launched around 2016.

In terms of gameplay, flash games, posting on the forums and interacting with the NPCs through quests are primary ways to earn "Shards", the base currency of the site. Premium currency, "Gems" are earned through a few daily quests, daily game high scores, and by purchasing them through the site.

The story and the NPCs is one of the most important aspects of the site. The story begins 1,000 years After the End, leaving only a small Remnant of reality untouched when the world was un-woven — the small city of Hope. Users begin within this remnant, enrolled as students in Hope University. Recently in Hope, mysterious creatures known as Kith have appeared from the Tattered Weave, which users can ally with. Since the introduction of Kith and users, other remnants of the world outside of Hope, the Enchanted Forest, Coral Reef, Shadow Stage,Cosmic Solarium, Snow Globe, and Cirque Faeriel have since been discovered, with more NPCs to interact with and more stories to discover.

TW contains example of:

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Thespians, Dwellers, and Fae seem to be able to come in any color of the rainbow.
  • Apocalypse Not: The entire world has been unwoven into a mess of tatters and much of the knowledge and resources of The Before Times are lost, but many of the remnants that survive have developed healthy, kind, generous societies in the 1,000 years since, although they still bear the scars of the Cataclysm.
  • Ascended Meme:
    • Dr. Stuffy started as a player joke/headcanon that Lycus might have a pet stuffed weasel. Shortly after players sent the NPC a stuffed weasel in a trade, asking if he "lost Dr. Stuffy," it was introduced as an official toy item, and can now be seen sitting on the backshelf of his lab
    • The special fanfiction books released on April Fools contain lots of references to actual the players' interactions and headcanons about the characters, including a werewolf AU
    • The special 'Thespiansona' books that can be acquired through one of the The Scribe's quests. Various players were making Thespian versions of themselves and sharing them on site, and Scribe liked the idea so much that she decided to write down the parts so people could read them.
    • Since Narrator’s real name is completely unknown, it became common for players to jokingly claim that his real name was Buttface Steve. In the Cirque Faeriel intro event, while proporting to be Narrator’s best friend, Chadfrey claims (unconvincingly) that Narrator’s real name is Steve.
  • Big Word Shout: Often used in events, during climatic moments. It will usually be several sizes larger than the default text.
  • Blow You Away: The Cirque Faeriel has sole access to Wind magic, their founder having stolen it from the Enchanted Forest.
  • Crapsaccharine World: The Snow Globe takes the cake. It's a winter wonderland filled with cute deer people called Dwellers. They're polite and hospitable...because they're forced to be. If they break social norms or behave rudely, however deservedly, they grow crystals all over their bodies until they're entombed in crystal statue and they die (although the crystals can be chiseled off if one acts fast.) And that's not getting into the Deception's Scourge or Counselor Gloryglint's...everything.
Gloryglint: "This new statue is so perfectly picturesque, the column smooth as glass, and yet... This expression, locked away beneath the crystals, just barely visible... Wide eyes, frozen tears, mouth contorted in a scream... What were you feeling, I wonder, in those final moments as the curse consumed you..."
  • Creator Breakdown: In-Universe, the Narrator's plays became darker, more tragic, and more riddled with Plot Holes over the years.
  • Creepy Doll: Dollmaker has haunted dolls and tries to keep all of them on the same shelf. He asks you to tell him if a doll "calls out to you."
  • Digital Avatar: It is common for petsites to have avatars. Tattered Weave is no exception.
  • Fictional Disability: Miranda's Kith, Enhe, was forcibly stuck in a Tattered state after being struck by lightning in the Everstorm, unable to change back like all other Kith with alternate forms. Even after she regained the ability to change into a Heroic form, she still can't go back to being a regular blue Pluff, and it's reminiscent of a chronic pain condition.
  • Flat "What": During the Reign of the Dragon event,
The Narrator: [Surround him, Underlings, just as your mistress instructed! Gather from every corner! Stab your foe with your horns and tear him with your talons! Throw that detestable half-wit off the balcony! It's been quite a while since I last heard the satisfying crunch of his body against the ground. I wonder, Hero... If you fall to your death out here, so far from my Shadow Stage, will you still get back up again?]
The Hero: "Unhand me, you foul, swarming fiends! Though - ARGH! Though you may have dashed the blades from my hands, I am still readily equipped to face you, for I have been gifted with the mightiest of weaponry! I now wield a magical pistol from the Coral Reef, a weapon of such potency that you shall all be - AGH - powerless before it! Yield and despair, for this pistol is blazing forth with...DELICIOUS CUSTARD!"
    The Narrator: [...What.]
  • Foreign-Looking Font: Only in the background art, but whatever language Hope used before the Cataclysm, it wasn't English. It's implied every remnant has it's own language, but it's magically translated by the mere presence of Kith.
  • Friendly Pirate:
Description for Pirate Flag: Proudly display your pirate pride and cultural heritage! Historically, pirates were a tight-knit crew of sailors who rejected the cruel laws of the land for the freedom of the open sea, braving monsters at every storm, finding friendship at every shore, and - hm? What? Stealing?
  • Good Versus Good: Often found in events, two characters will fight, however neither of them are completely in the wrong.
    • For example, Andre and his kith Fray had an event where Fray accidentally tore Andre's prized friendship necklace. Fray was in the wrong, but he was still a good kith.
    • Another example is Tethys and Dione arguing over whether Dione should release her tailoring patterns. It was for the greater good, but it was still Dione's passion.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The hero Althea gave her life to preserve Hope from the Tatters. The same goes for the Sea Witch, Ysadora.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • Small fourth wall breaks are common, often referencing the writing staff.
    • In an hourly quest, Piper comments that she can't wait to fight Snarls because it sounds "just like a video game."
  • Living Forever is No Big Deal: Kith have never been recorded to die, but they never comment on their immortality.
    • Subverted with the Fae; it's offhandedly mentioned that they're immortal (they cannot die of natural causes but they can be killed), but a much larger emphasis is placed on it. Namely that it's the reason they don't seem to care about causing harm to others, as they do not experience pain.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: Specter once kidnapped the shopkeepers in the Coral Reef and placed them in illusions where their past traumas had never happened.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Kith in a nutshell. Every new player allies with a Kith to learn about the world together, and that alliance can protect the player from the tatters.
  • Not the Intended Use: A method to play the minigame This Little Pig, a clone of Snake, was found that the developers didn't expect; ignoring the apples which earn points but grow your pig's tail in favor of collecting only watering cans which grant invincibility and purposely bumping into the ordinarily damaging lawnmowers to earn lots more points without growing the tail. However, it's not an exploit, just a strategy, and as such the developers couldn't care less.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: They're a circus troupe, for one thing. Their skin comes in many vibrant hues, and they're born without wings—wings, instead, must be earned.
  • Plant Person: The Dryads, who take sustenance from their trees and are almost Treants themselves.
  • Platonic Valentine: The yearly Palentine's Day event, which celebrates love in all its forms.
  • Player-Generated Economy: Players can trade and sell items to each other.
  • Princesses Rule: Princess Celariel, though this is a Justified Trope in that her father is still alive, he's just unable to rule.
  • Relationship Values: The player has a reputation status with each NPC, and their portrait evolves with each level out of four you gain. At maximum level, their shop will stock twice as many items.
  • Scavenger World: Appears to apply to the Pirates from the Coral Reef, with a weird amount of very high-tech machinery on their ships that they've mostly repurposed into cooking equipment.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": All of the Shadow Stage shopkeepers have 'roles' starting with "the," though it's often dropped in dialogue. This is because, in Thespian culture, one's true name is only shared with their closest friends, and they use their Role titles in casual conversation.
  • Story Branching: Players get choices in some events. The choice with the most votes will be carried out, changing the outcome of the event.
  • Technicolor Wind: Wind magic is shown as light blue.
  • Temporary Online Content:
    • Event quests disappear when their event ends. If any of those quests had unique rewards, you'll have to buy/trade them from other players.
    • Holiday items are only sold during the holiday, though they often return the next year.
  • Translator Microbes: Kith are this, interestingly enough. Their magic allows them to freely communicate with anyone, bridging all language barriers. Even Hearthsworn, who is deaf, can still hear them speak.
  • Videogame Caring Potential: A lot of the players are willing to help out newbies with their quests, as starting out can be a little rough.
    • On the gameplay side of things, there's also taking care of your Kith. You can feed them, play with them, and even read books with them—and all of them contribute to the Kith's stats and will eventually allow a Kith to develop a completely different personality!
  • Visible Silence: Sometimes seen in events during suspenseful moments.
  • You Mean "Xmas":
    • Halloweave instead of Halloween.
    • Palentine's instead of Valentine's.
