Monster Quest is a 2008 point and click Hidden Object Game video game made by Big Fish Games, based upon the The History Channel show of the same name. You play as a guy working for an organization also called MonsterQuest as he goes around the world investigating five sightings of mysterious creatures. Its divided between a typical Hidden Object game and minigames at the end of each level, where you analyse evidence to find out the truth.

You can watch all missions in the game to the links to the right: Kraken, Werewolf of Johnson's Creek, Lake Monster, Dark Wing, Bigfoot

The game provides examples of:

  • Artistic License – Geography: The fictional location of Rolvig, Norway for the first mission is briefly shown to be on a map in the Baltic Sea, which is on the opposite side of the Scandinavian peninsula and doesn't touch Norway.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Subject of the final mission, where one was sighted by campers and even raided their camp. One trapper you interview even says he used to try and prove the existence of it and even trapped one, but when it looked at him in the eye, he changed his mind and let it go free. Its even hinted that it may actually exist, seeing how the evidence you collect is an inconclusive and bears no resemblance to known animals.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: The kraken is the subject of the first mission, where one guy on a Norwegian ship thinks he was attacked by it. Its concluded it was the work of a Humboldt Squid..
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: The bigfoot mission ends with the player deciding the evidence found is inconclusive, and it is hinted that its indeed real.
  • The Mothman: The Dark Wing (inconsistantly called the Nightbat in certain screens) of the fourth mission is inspired by it, albeit with a British bend to it instead of an Appalachian/American one.
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: The voice actors in the first mission aren't even trying to make attempt at Norwegian accents (where it takes place).
  • The Other Rainforest: The fictional town of Laughton, British Columbia is the setting of the Bigfoot level.
  • Our Cryptids Are More Mysterious: It's a cryptid-hunting game based of a cryptid-hunting show, natch.
  • Red Herring: There are models of dinosaurs note  in your office and a T. rex skeleton is behind your monitor, so you'd expect this to foreshadow one mission to be about Living Dinosaurs; helps the show has featured the Ropen of New Guinea and the Mokele-Mbembe of the African Congo. Nope, only five missions and none of them are such (unless you count El Monstro, whose model is represented as a plesiosaur).
  • Rewarding Vandalism: You break into several places without owners' permission at certain points and you aren't punished for it.
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: Two of the monsters turn out to be this, though they're a bit more benign and harmless then most examples: The mystery of El Monstro turns out to be in part one to attract tourists and make some cash, while the myth of the Dark Wing was spread by a group of British college students to keep alive the memory of their fraternity's founder.
  • Shout-Out: In your office is a crate reading Carl Deham Motion Picture Co.
  • Stock Ness Monster: The subject of the third mission is a lake monster in Mexico called El Monstro. It's represented by the show's model of the Vermont cryptid Champ.
