Idle Brain Quest is an Idle Game by Top Cog for smartphones that was released in 2015. In it, you do intellect-related quests and earn books to buy skills that improve your performance. If necessary, you can always unlearn a skill. There are 28 skills and 10 mindpowers to unlock.
This game provides examples of:
- Added Alliterative Appeal: Some quests, like "Being busy buying busted buoyant business based buses".
- Anti Idling: Not doing anything for a long time will cause brainpower decay gradually, slowing down idling speed. You can purchase an option to disable it for 9.99$.
- ASCII Art: The fifth title you reach is "Ascii Artist".
- Basement-Dweller: The second title you reach is "Basement Bum".
- Cooldown: Every mindpower has a cooldown that ranges from a second to several hours before it can be used again.
- Export Save: There's an export button in the options, which puts your save as "IdleBrainQuest_exported.save" in the Downloads folder, and you can import it from "IdleBrainQuest.save", but it won't work if you don't turn on access to the files in the system settings (the game won't ask for enabling them, at least not on a phone running Android 9).
- Mad Libs Dialogue: Most descriptions of what you're doing on a quest is a random mishmash of adverbs, verbs, adjectives, and nouns related to the skill the quest is based on.
- Microtransactions: You can pay real money to buy 16 Knowledge Crystals for your save or buy things like halved mindpower recharge time, all mindpowers unlocked permanently, and eliminated brainpower decay, which are tied to your account. Any purchase also disables ads.
- No Stat Atrophy: Averted. Upgrading a skill will cause the lower skill in its branch to decrease in level (but not in upgrade cost).
- Playlist Soundtrack: The "Random" option makes the game randomly select one of the game's four songs, those being "Revitalize", "2015", "Newest", and "Brainstorm", and switch to another one once it finishes.
- A Rare Sentence: Many quests. Just try saying you are "studying the potentiality of encountering bodybuilders randomly frolicking with shining invisible pinecones".
- Rhymes on a Dime: Some quests, like "Don't divest - invest in this quest with the utmost zest".
- Shout-Out: The symbol related to Idle Logic is Spock's Vulkan salute.
- Skill Point Reset: You can unlearn a skill to decrease its level, which can often be used to decrease costs of other skills to possibly make them better. You don't get spent books or Knowledge Crystals back, though.
- Time-Limit Boss: Each crowned quest (every 5th quest) has a time limit of 20 seconds. Fail to win and it resets.
