Gods Will Fall is a Dark Fantasy action game developed by British independent video game studio Clever Beans and published by Deep Silver. It was released on January 29, 2021, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Gods Will Fall contains examples of the following tropes:
- Antagonist Title: The titular Gods that must be felled.
- Big Bad Ensemble: The Gods have a brutal iron grip on their followers and humanity have been immensely oppressed under their rule.
- Body Motifs: Yaltogguth has eyes littering his realm. Giant eyes also need to be killed to keep endless reinforcements from swarming the player.
- Creepy Crows: Morrigan is a giant crow god fought at the top of their domain.
- Eyes Do Not Belong There: Yaltogguth has no eyes in his eye sockets. Instead, he has a beard made up of eyes. His followers have eyes covering their bodies as well.
- It's Personal: Party members can randomly have a revenge backstory come up when they approach a god's domain, eager to kill them personally. Doing so gives them vigour, strength and skill bonuses.
- "Just Frame" Bonus: Players parry attacks by charging into them at the right moment. Lighter and unarmored foes are thrown like ragdolls, while heavier and armored foes are stunned.
- Literally Shattered Lives: The final blow given to a god causes their body to turn to stone before crumbling.
- Took a Level in Badass: While each of the fighters is already badass enough to fight through hordes of soldiers, monsters, and especially gods, it also applies to characters who dread their specific god and proceed to kill them, showing they're not afraid anymore.
