Trivia / White Rabbit Project

  • Screwed by the Network: Netflix has chosen to not renew the show for a second season due to intentions to focus on scripted drama that are binge-watchable, although it is also widely believed that the hate mentioned in Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things below is also a major contributor to the cancellation.
  • Short-Runner: Grant revealed that due to various circumstancesnote , Netflix would not be renewing the show for a second season, leaving the show with only 10 episodes.
  • Technology Marches On: "Built Before Its Time?" showcases that various devices we use nowadays had their concepts applied many years ago, but modern technology has made them much more practical (such as on-board car navigation), while "Crazy World War II Weapons" mentions that some of the devices the Allies tried to use as wonder weapons are being used today (such as helping deliver probes to Mars) or are still being researched (using stink bombs for riot use), but the tech base of the era made them utterly impractical. At the same time, "Where's My Hoverboard?" and "Superpower Tech" shows that devices exist that were totally in the realm of science fiction many years ago, but are still Awesome, but Impractical because of details like price range (i.e. the jetpack is estimated to cost a few hundred thousand dollars when it's initially put to mass manufacture in the next few years) or even safety (Grant's hoverboard can hurt the rider or anyone in the surrounding vicinity if improperly operated).
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: Once word of this "successor" started to get out, hate started to come streaming in, sadly. A small number of people are already complaining at several outlets (notably, the official Facebook page as well as the Facebook pages of the hosts and even at the MythBusters Facebook page) about how the format of the show isn't like MythBusters.
