Trivia / WandaVision Episode 9 "The Series Finale"

Go To

  • Demand Overload: As with the previous two episodes, Disney+ crashed once again.
  • Deleted Scene:
    • Ralph, Darcy, Billy and Tommy break into Agatha's basement to steal the Darkhold. There, Señor Scratchy gets turned into a demon.
    • Jimmy Woo tells another agent to keep an eye out for the missing witness he came to Westview to look for. In the background, Ralph cuts off an ankle monitor using a tool from a fire truck revealing that he's the guy Jimmy is looking for.
  • Throw It In!: Kat Dennings' big scene in this episode was cut (see below), and the crew hastily threw together a single scene for Darcy that she could film in front of a bluescreen, as it wouldn't make sense for her to disappear completely from the show at the end.
  • Trolling Creator: Halfway through the series, Paul Bettany claimed that the final episode featured an actor he had always wanted to work with for his entire life, actually referring to himself playing White Vision. He quickly grew to regret it when the fans started guessing various big name actors, especially ones from the X-Men Film Series, and he realized they would now inevitably be let down by the finale after weeks of excitement about who the big cameo would be.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to director Matt Shakman, the episode originally contained a scene where Billy, Tommy, Monica, Ralph and Darcy go to Agatha's basement to try and find The Darkhold (presumably to bring it to Wanda) only for Agatha's rabbit "Señor Scratchy" to turn into a demon and try to kill them. The scene was shot, but it was ultimately dropped from the story and the CGI was never completed. This explains why Darcy and Ralph almost completely disappear from the final episode.
    • Hayward's S.W.O.R.D. agents were supposed to be more involved in the climax, and in the scene where the freed townspeople confront Wanda, they were supposed to physically attack her. Those scenes were shot during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when production crews were still figuring out how to be COVID-safe on a set, so they were changed to ensure all the actors remained socially distanced from one another.
    • Benedict Cumberbatch originally signed a contract to appear in the finale as Doctor Strange, and the in-universe commercials were supposed to be revealed as messages Strange was sending in an attempt to get through to Wanda. However, Strange was ultimately written out because Kevin Feige feared his presence would've taken attention away from Wanda in her own show.
