• Actor Allusion: In WCPW, he gets to use the Bullhammer against Zack Gibson at the WCPW No Regrets iPPV.
  • His schtick as Bad News Barrett also gets some allusions: it's first used by IPW's Billy Wood as the announcement for Mark Haskins vs. Martin Kirby at Defiant #6 ("Defiant, I have some baaaad news for you...") and the man himself uses it at Defiant Chain Reaction when Joe Hendry requests to be part of Team Defiant for that night's Team IPW vs. Team Defiant.
• Executive Meddling: Claimed in an interview that the reason he stopped delivering bad news was because the bosses backstage told him to stop since he was getting cheered for it.
  • Since his release from WWE, he is more than happy to deliver some bad news whenever he appears in public.
• Romance on the Set: Dated Alicia Fox for around two years. If one were to go by Total Divas, she still has a thing for him, though his feelings on the matter are a little unclear.
• Saved from Development Hell: In April 2010, Barrett won an NXT challenge, awarding him own theme song. Apparently Barrett was never pleased with the themes given to him, so he would delay it, sending it into Development Hell while he used "We Are One" (The Nexus theme) and "End of Days" (The Corre theme). It took him one year and 9 months, but Barrett finally got his wish with "Just Don't Care" in January 2012.
