Trivia / Unpregnant

  • Dueling Works: It's one of two abortion-themed road trip movies released in 2020, the other being Never Rarely Sometimes Always. However, the latter is played for complete drama, this film is more dramedy. A third similar film, Plan B (2021), debuted on Hulu in late May 2021; this film is closer in tone to Unpregnant, but has a slightly different premise in that the teens are seeking emergency contraception rather than abortion. While all of the films are acclaimed by critics, Never Rarely has slightly higher marks than Unpregnant, as well as better audience scores and notably more individual rankings.note
  • He Also Did: Director Rachel Lee Goldenberg is probably best known for her campy early work with The Asylum (including Sunday School Musical and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes) and the self-parodying Lifetime Movie of the Week A Deadly Adoption. This film is quite the deviation from that, though it is more in line with TV shows she has worked on (Looking for Alaska, Everything's Gonna Be Okay).
  • Playing Against Type: Giancarlo Esposito has carved out quite a niche for himself playing chilling villains on TV. Here he plays a comically aggressive-yet-ultimately friendly conspiracy theorist and limo driver.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Barbie Ferreira is currently dating a woman, and she plays lesbian Bailey.
