• Actor Allusion: Kevin McKidd's character is once again a warrior from a proud kingdom long ago.
• Descended Creator: Director Steve Purcell voices the Cleric.
• Defictionalization:
  • A Reptilius Maximus action figure was released with versions of the Toy Story figures from the special. So was an Angel Kitty plush toy.
  • Overlapping with International Coproduction, Disney commissioned the Japanese Studio TRIGGER to create an intro to a possible Battlesaurs series, adding anime to the mammoth list of inspirations of the toyline. A lot of people want a full-on series to be created now, similar to how Buzz Lightyear of Star Command was spawned.
• What Could Have Been: A behind-the-scenes Concept Art Slide depicts Woody and Buzz wearing Battlesaur armour alongside Rex, which didn't make it into the short itself.
