• Contest Winner Cameo: AMC held a contest that would allow the winners to be featured in the game.
• Creator Killer: The failure of Survival Instinct was the last straw for Terminal Reality, which shut down within months of the game's release, after nearly 20 years of operation.
• Dueling Games: With Tell Tale Games' version. No sooner then this was announced, fans quickly stirred over if it'll be better; and in a cruel bit of irony, both games ended up killing their respective companies, albeit for different reasons.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: As both a licensed game and a financial flop, the game was unlikely to remain available for digital purchase for long. Sure enough, it was removed from digital sale a couple of years after its release, with the only legal way to obtain it now being a remaining physical copy.
