Trivia / The Wacky World of Tex Avery

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Scott McNeil as Amanda.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: A mostly Vancouver cast with Billy West (American; voices Tex, Sid, Freddy and assorted extras), Cree Summer (Toronto, recorded in LA; voices Khannie), and Maurice LaMarche (Montreal, also recorded in LA; voices Mooch, Amanda's many servants and assorted extras).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Although 65 episodes were made, most streaming services like Tubi TV only include 52 episodes.
  • Money, Dear Boy: According to Nancy Avery (daughter of the legendary cartoonist), she only approved the show to get her kids into college. Initially the cartoon's producers offered her a pretty derisory sum, pointing out that they technically didn't need her permission to make the show and that they'd do it whether she endorsed it or not. As a result, Nancy asked Chuck Jones for his advice on the matter; he told her that under the circumstances Tex would want his family to be financially secure more than anything else, and helped her negotiate a much more reasonable settlement.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: While the creative team did intend to include the actual Tex Avery characters, the issue of DiC Entertainment being owned by Disney at that time while Avery’s characters were owned by Warner Bros. put the kibosh on that idea.
  • Uncredited Role: Every actor in the original English version is not credited and instead the French dub actors are listed for unknown reasons.
  • What Could Have Been: The show was originally announced as Tex Avery Theater (see pages 30-31) and Tex looked much differently (this design was strangely used on the show's French dub's title card, as well as one of Les Studios Tex closing logos).
