Trivia / The Tatami Galaxy

Go To

  • Bonus Material: The Japanese DVD/BD releases include unaired shorts.
  • The Cast Showoff: Keiji Fujiwara as Higuchi sings the only non-opening/ending song in the anime, "Searching for X".
  • Late Export for You: The book itself would not be published in English until 2022, nearly two decades since its original release in Japan.
  • No Dub for You: Funimation finally gave it a home video release in 2019, nine years after it finished airing, and with no dub.
  • No Export for You: Region 2 is the only territory that received a release outside of Japan, so fans in the Americas and elsewhere will likely never see the Bonus Material mentioned above.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Translator Emily Balistrieri notes in his afterword that he has been a huge fan of Morimi for several years and had even asked Morimi to translate parts of his other books for contests, so he was excited to officially handle The Tatami Galaxy for its English release.
  • The Other Darrin: While nearly all of the original voice cast for the anime adaptation returned for Tatami Time Machine Blues, Higuchi needed to be replaced following the passing of his original voice actor Keiji Fujiwara. He gets Kazuya Nakai for that series.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Morimi stated in his non-fiction book on writing that he wrote all four chapters simultaneously, going back and forth between them to avoid getting stuck with writer's block.
