Trivia / The Simpsons Game

Go To

  • Dummied Out:
    • The DS version has an animation of Homer operating a lever, which isn't used in normal gameplay due to Bart and Lisa being the only ones who can reach any levers in their levels. The only way you can see Homer's animation is during "Bartman Begins" before the fight against Dolph by using cheats to get Homer to Bart's side of the room above and operating the lever meant for the latter, but after the animation finishes, the game crashes.
    • Bart has an voice clip in the DS version on him commenting on America Land in "Around the World in 80 Bites", which isn't used in the level itself, but can be heard legitimately if you tap on him in Moe's Tavern to play the voice clip at random.
    • There are several unused victory themes in the DS version pertaining to a stage that were likely intended to play on the results screen, where the normal menu theme plays. The only exception is the one intended for "Big Super Happy Fun Fun Game", which is heard when winning a Sparklemon Battle.
    • God has a fully modelled face, and appears to have been based off of his appearance in Treehouse of Horror XVI (his last appearance where his face is visible prior to the game being made).
  • No Port For You: For some reason, the Simpsons Game never got a PC version.
  • Parody Assistance: Michael Giacchino, the composer of many of the Medal of Honor games, provides the "Medal of Homer" level music.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The theme of the "Land of Chocolate" level is actually a remix of an unused theme from the previous Simpsons game, The Simpsons Hit & Run.
  • Role Reprise:
    • All of the voice actors from the animated series reprise their roles for the game.
    • Billy West and John DiMaggio reprise their roles as Zoidberg and Bender from Futurama.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The idea of the Simpsons discovering that their lives are actually a video game seen here is pretty similar to one of the original plot ideas proposed during the development of The Simpsons Movie, where the Simpson family would have discovered that their lives are being filmed for a reality show. Matt Groening vetoed the idea as he didn't want the Simpsons to discover the Fourth Wall.
    • A Downloadable Content section in the main menu of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions heavily implies the game was intended to get DLC, but nothing of the sort was ever released. Dummied Out graphics exist of the open world's map with new areas added, with filenames suggesting a total of five downloadable episodes were planned. The locations of each new area match up to where locked gates and Broken Bridges can be found in-game, suggesting that these areas would have opened up when the DLC episodes were purchased.
    • EA initially had plans to make a sequel called The Simpsons Game 2, but it was cancelled in 2011 alongside a Nintendo Wii version of Dead Space 2 to make room for other projects.
