Trivia / The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords

Go To

  • First Appearance: Not only of the Four Sword, Vaati, and the Minish by extension, but also the first appearance of the "Toon" art style popularized by Wind Waker (at least in Western countries).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The DSiWare port has been released on two occasions, and both times it was only available for a limited time. The only legal way for those that didn't get it those two times is to buy a used DSi or 3DS that has it downloaded or in its purchase history.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": An interesting case where he really did debut in this game. The "Toon Link" design was created for, and in most countries, debuted in Wind Waker. However, the Four Swords game managed to come out in America before any version of Wind Waker, but would not see release in Japan until after his intended debut. As such, Nintendo refers to Wind Waker as his actual first appearance.
  • Milestone Celebration: The first DSiWare release was part of Zelda's 25th anniversary celebration.
  • Rereleased for Free: The game was released for free on DSiWare for the franchise's 25th anniversary, though for a limited time. It was briefly made available again a few years later to celebrate The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
  • What Could Have Been: An earlier build of the game shown in magazines depicts different designs for the Links and the Stalfos. The Links all wear a brown shirt underneath their tunics, whereas in the final they wear an off-white shirt. This would be recycled in Super Smash Bros. Brawl where this serves as an alternate costume for Toon Link.
