Trivia / Tenchi Universe

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Wataru Takagi voices Kamidake as well as some minor characters.
  • B-Team Sequel: This is the first Tenchi Muyo! series not to involve character designer Masaki Kajishima, as well as writers Naoko Hasegawa and Yousuke Kuroda.
  • Completely Different Title: The series was known as Tenchi Muyo! TV in Japan.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The thirteenth episode premiered on June 25, 1995, which also coincided with the release of the second Ryo-Ohki OVA's twelfth episode.
  • The Other Darrin: In the English dub, Mark Tracy replaces Jack Fletcher as Kamidake.
  • Production Posse: Even though this was the first major Tenchi Muyo! production without Masaki Kajishima's involvement, the core cast was still together and Ryo-Ohki composer Seikou Nagaoka wrote the music.
  • Role Reprise: Yukana returns as Mirai Ozora from Moldiver for her brief appearance in "No Need for a Genius".
  • Studio Hop:
    • As with the pre-1999 Tenchi Muyo! titles, Tenchi Universe and the films are currently owned by NBCUniversal due to their buyout of Pioneer/Geneon in 2008.
    • As with most of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise, the North American home media rights were held by Pioneer Entertainment, before switching over to Funimation.
  • Uncredited Role: Yukana, who appeared as the voice of Mirai Ozora in "No Need for a Genius", is uncredited.
  • What Could Have Been: Nagi, Ken-Ohki and Azaka and Kamidake's humanoid forms were shown in promotional art for Tenchi in Tokyo, as seen here, hinting that the series was originally going to be a sequel of Tenchi Universe following the release of Tenchi Muyo! in Love. For reasons that are unclear, this concept was scrapped, and Tenchi in Tokyo ended up being set in its own continuity.
