- Actor Allusion:
- Fred Tatasciore previously played J. Jonah Jameson before playing his DC equivalent, Perry White, here.
- When Superman goes crazy, he sounds a lot like one of George Newbern's other characters: Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.
- Crossdressing Voices:
- The young Manchester Black is voiced by Grey DeLisle.
- The character credited as "kid playing Superman" is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
- Fake Brit:
- The young Manchester Black is voiced by Grey DeLisle, an American voice actress. Averted with the adult self, with Robin Atkin Downes having been born in England before moving to the US. Not that it really helps.
- Vera's voice actresses as an adult and child, Marcella Lentz Pope and Tara Strong, are both American, the latter also Canadian.
- Stephen Stanton voices their father, and he's also American.
- Role Reprise:
- George Newbern reprises his role as Superman/Clark Kent from Justice League, while David Kaufman reprises his role from the DC Animated Universe as Jimmy Olsen.
- In the French dub, several voice actors from previous adaptations reprise their roles here:
- From Superman: The Animated Series: Emmanuel Jacomy as Superman/Clark Kent and VĂ©ronique Augereau as Lois Lane.
- From All-Star Superman: In addition to Superman, Yoann Sover as Jimmy Olsen and Thierry Murzeau as Perry White.
- Self-Adaptation: Joe Kelly of Man of Action Studios wrote both What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way? and this film.
- Time-Shifted Actor: Robin Atkin Downes and Marcella Lentz Pope voice Manchester Black and Vera Black as adults, while Grey DeLisle and Tara Strong voice them as children.
- What Could Have Been:
- Originally, the film was going to use the Parasite as the villain Superman refuses to take down lethally before the Elite kill him instead, but he was already used in All-Star Superman (and underwent a similar fate of going on a killing spree before getting killed himself), so they went with the Atomic Skull instead.
- Lex Luthor was also going to make an appearance like in the comic.
