- All-Star Cast: Its IMDB page is a who's who of known British actors and rising homegrown talent.
- Billing Displacement: Protagonist Talulah Riley is the last name before "And Mischa Barton" in the opening credits, and not even listed on the poster. Said poster also has Gemma Arterton prominently but not her name, and the opening credits only list her after the And Starring. The Video Credits fix it, as Riley is first and Arterton sixth, before all the big names.
- Dawson Casting: Some of the teenage characters were portrayed by actors in their twenties, including Gemma Arterton, Talulah Riley and Paloma Faith; Faith in particular was around 25 playing a high schooler. Juno Temple, Lily Cole and Tamsin Egerton averted this, as they were in their late teens.
- Fake Brit: Mischa Barton; although she was born in London and retains dual British-American citizenship, she grew up in New York City and speaks with an American accent in real life.
- Playing Against Type: Lena Headey, normally known for playing the Manipulative Bitch or Action Girl characters, plays Miss Dickinson, the meek English teacher.
- Playing Their Own Twin: As with the original series, the Headmistress, Miss Fritton, is played by a man (Rupert Everett on this occasion) who also plays her brother.
