Trivia / Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble

Go To

  • First Appearance: Of Fang the Hunter (then called Fang the Sniper in Japan/Nack the Weasel in the West)
  • No Port For You: Bizarrely, this is the only traditional 8-bit Sonic game that never got a release on the Sega Master System, even though its predecessor and successor both saw releases on those platforms, albeit the latter was only released in Brazil. A preview of the game in Mean Machines, a UK gaming magazine, does state that the game would be coming to the Master System, indicating that there were plans to bring it to the system at one point, but were scrapped.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: "Nack" was the original development name for the new character, but due to sounding too similar to Knuckles in Japanese, a contest ran in Shūkan Famicom Tsūshin to replace the name. "Fang" was the winner, which then finalized to Fang the Sniper. Nack would still be used in the English localization though.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A preview of the game in the UK gaming magazine Mean Machines mentions that the game was originally titled Sonic Chaos 2 and that it would be coming to the Sega Master System, indicating that there plans for a Master System port that never came to fruition. It also reveals that Fang was originally gonna be named "Jet" in English as opposed to "Nack".
    • Early screenshots indicate that Fang would have been encountered outside of the Special Stages more than he did in the final version.note
    • Concept artwork for Fang depicts him as holding a realistic looking gun, with one early screenshot showing him pointing it towards Sonic. However, the gun ended up getting cut out from the final version entirely, most likely to avoid controversy. Fang would be shown wielding a gun later on in Sonic the Fighters as his primary weapon, though it's a far less realistic-looking popgun as opposed to what he wielded early on.
  • Working Title: As aforementioned, a preview of the game in Mean Machines reveals that the game was originally gonna be localized as Sonic Chaos 2, following the naming structure of the Japanese version, which was titled Sonic & Tails 2, before it was localized as Triple Trouble.
