- Acting in the Dark: Gianni Matragrano invoked this on himself intentionally. Not only did he not have a script (all his dialogue as rats is stuff he made up), but he didn't play any of the preview material he received so as to keep it a surprise for himself for when the game was finished. Between that and him forgetting most of his rat dialogue by the time the game was released, he ended up playing Slayers X from a mostly-fresh perspective despite having contributed to the game.
- Approval of God: Both Vinny and Joel of Vinesauce expressed their flattery with their cameos on the Metal Masters magazine cover, which was apparently made with neither of the two's knowledge. Joel in particular reacted with bemused glee when he noticed himself and his Scythelord bandmate, Frank.Joel: That's funny as fuck, what? I had no idea about this! I'm in the game!
- Enforced Method Acting: Lead designer Jay Tholen acted in-character as Zane throughout the entire process of voice directing, to immerse the actors in the meta aspect of their role (IE, that they've been hired by a talentless amateur manchild for his ego project). Gianni Matragrano (voice of the game's rats) stated in a livestream with Tasch Ritter and Justice Washington (the voices of Steffanie and Mikey, respectively) that "we did not work with Jay, we worked with Zane." They've since remarked that it was one of the most entertaining aspects of working on the game.
- Harpo Does Something Funny: While most of the dialogue was scripted, Gianni Matragrano's performance as rats was left entirely unscripted.
- Official Fan-Submitted Content: Some content in the game was made by fans. Some of the balloons in Dollar$haver, for example, are taken from fans via email.
- Playing Against Type: In the Retraux FPS scene, Gianni Matragrano is best known for his work as a Disc-One Final Boss or other imposing morally-questionable characters. In this game, he voices the squeaky, gremlin-voice rats. This is something that got Lampshaded during his stream with Tasch Ritter and Justice Washington:Tasch Ritter: "I mean, honestly, Zane had the most insightful type casting of any project that we've ever had, I think, because, you know, because we've got Gianni as... a bunch of rats. Obviously. That's all he is, a bunch of rats in a trench coat."
- Production Posse: Gianni Matragrano, Tasch Ritter, and Justice Washington had previously worked together on The Grifters, a series of "live dub" gaming streams, before being cast in Slayers X. Their Hypnospace Outlaw stream put them on Tendershoot's radar; Jay Tholen actually cast Justice on the spot during a stream via chat messages.
