• Inspiration for the Work: Showrunner Ken Yoshida was compelled to create Samurai Pirates not only through his son's love of shows that feature song and dance promiently but also due to witnessing extensive amounts of Values Dissonance in a lot of shows supposedly aimed at kids and a desire to make something that doesn't have any of that.
• International Co Production: The series is a collaboration between Picona and Canadian animation company Lakeside Animation Studio.
