• Awesome, Dear Boy: Melissa Joan Hart only agreed to do the movie if she got to learn how to scuba dive, so she, Tara Strong and Lindsay Sloane flew out weeks before filming to get certified.
• Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Was sometimes incorrectly advertised as Sabrina GOES Down Under, presumably following from the name of the previous film.
• B-Team Sequel: The late Michel Colombier wrote the music for the film instead of regular series composer Danny Lux.
• Fake American: Australian actor Scott Michaelson gives Barnaby an American accent, despite being a merman who seems to live around the Great Barrier Reef. Presumably, this is to avoid the Fridge Logic of him having a sister who speaks with an American accent.
• Fake Australian: The Australian Hilary Hexton is played by Rebecca Gibney, who was born in New Zealand.
• Fake Brit: Canadian actress Tara Strong once again plays Gwen with a British accent.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: At present, the VHS release is the only way to watch the film with "Beautiful Stranger", "Octopus's Garden" and "Livin' la Vida Loca" (all of which were replaced for the Hulu and 2017 DVD releases).
• Screwed by the Lawyers: Due to music clearance issues, "Beautiful Stranger", "Octopus's Garden" as well as "Livin' la Vida Loca" were replaced in the Hulu stream and the 2017 DVD release.
• Wag the Director: Melissa Joan Hart claims that Lindsay Sloane got jealous of her getting to go to Rome for Sabrina Goes to Rome, so she lobbied for her to be written into this film as well. As Valerie had been axed at this point, they created a new character.
• Vacation, Dear Boy: Lindsay Sloane claims that Melissa Joan Hart wanted her in the movie and she wasn't going to turn down three months in Australia, so the writers had to come up with a way to write her in as a new character rather than Valerie.
• You Look Familiar: Fin is played by Lindsay Sloane who also played Valerie in the TV series. Also, the model used for Hilary also appears in a season 4 episode as a cat called Juliet.
