Trivia / Resonance Days

  • Ascended Fanon:
  • Creator Backlash : In the AO3 version of chapter 3, TakerFoxx admits that the constant incest jokes with Nie and Arzt are "pretty off-putting", and clarifies that they are not actual siblings, but incest jokes were very popular in the community they frequented, so it seemed funny at the time. Occasional lines from the ffn version are entirely absent from the ao3 version for this reason.
  • Creator's Favorite: Mephisto is Taxerfoxx' favourite villain.
  • Creator's Favorite Episode: Restless is Takerfoxx' favourite arc, followed by Monsterland.
  • Diagnosis of God: According to a post on his tumblr, TakerFoxx writes Charlotte as autistic. This is partially shown via her interest in learning about things, in particular that of alien worlds. She is not diagnosed as such in-universe in Resonance Days, but is so in Walpurgis Nights.
  • Fandom Nod: Some readers on the Spacebattles thread wanted to know how Oktavia, being a mermaid, pooped. They got their answer in chapter 6.
  • George Lucas Altered Version: The Archive of Our Own version has numerous changes, ranging from removing Old Shames to adding to or changing scenes that he found unsatisfactory in the original.
  • Outdated by Canon: The original premise of the fic was set down at a time when the fandom only had the original anime and the Kazumi Magica manga to go on for source material, so it makes a fair bit of assumptions that would be disproven by later mangas, games, and the Rebellion movie. This is not necesarrily a bad thing, as the fic has since then taken on its own identity entirely sepparate from those sources, while incorprorating what is appropriate.
    • When the character of Reibey was created, the only known incubators were Kyubey and Jubey from Kazumi Magica. Since these appear to act as sepparate individuals, it was assumed that Incubators were all individuals with the racial hat of being emotionless Manipulative Bastards. As such, Reibey is noted to be unusual for his emotions, but not for his individuality, and other incubators than Kyubey are mentioned. Rebellion would firmly establish that Incubators are a Hive Mind that all identify as Kyubey, with Jubey being a Rogue Drone.
    • Charlotte the Sweets Witch in the story is assumed to have originally been a magical girl with hot pink hair of Mami's age, and the two are in a romantic relationship. Rebellion introduces Charlotte's canonical original self, Nagisa Momoe, who is a white-haired little girl who's relationship to Mami is much more like a little sister or daughter. In this case, it's probably for the best since including Nagisa would mean changing large parts of the story, not to mention Mami's character, entirely.
  • Series Hiatus: The Archive of our own version went on a small hiatus after the Restless arc, as the author wanted to catch up on side-stories and spinoffs.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The first friendly witch Kyoko and Oktavia encountered was originally going to be Patricia, the class representative witch, who would be running an orphanage on a ship wreck. This was deemed too big of a concept to introduce that early on, so she was replaced with Elsa Maria. Patricia and her orphanage would return later on in the Etherdale arc.
    • Mundy the vaskergoros was originally going to be a Token Heroic Orc dockengaut.
    • There had been some ideas of having the Walpurgisnacht quartet of Walpurgis Nights: Oktavia, Ophelia, Charlotte, and Candeloro, be a polycule, but the idea was ultimate not followed through on, though the idea apparently was considered in-universe.
  • Word of Gay: In First Time, Taker states that Natsuru's gender was a result of being stuck like this upon arriving in the afterlife and rolling with it. Later comments establishes that she is definitely a transgender woman.
  • Word of God:
    • Taker has confirmed that the Creation Myth recounted by Elsa Maria in chapter 3 is more or less accurate, and that the girl who wished the afterlife into existence lived in the Mesolithic era.
    • Any timeline where Madoka dies or becomes a witch is shortly after reset by Homura, and since Homura's wish was to protect Madoka, her shades from those previous timelines are pulled back to life and added to the "current" Madoka. As such, Reibey has no shades of Madoka in his ziggurat.
    • If Homura in the current timeline witched out, the resulting Homulilly would come out differently than the one seen in 'Walpurgis Nights'. Instead of being a Shrinking Violet, she would be calm and reserved and a borderline wet blanket with a low tolerance for foolishness, but she'd also have a lot fewer of the hang-ups she has as Homura at the current timeline. The presence of either Madoka or Gretchen would also greatly affect how she comes out and develops.
    • The connection that forms between Magical Girls and Witches who die together is abug that became a staple feature of the afterlife.
