• Blooper: In the episode where Cousin Milagros comes for a visit, Sharon and Violeta come in from basketball practice. They both have their hair up in ponytails. By the time Violeta leaves the house in a huff, her hair is down. She is never shown taking out her hair tie and the change is never explained.
• Dawson Casting: Steven Bauer was 21 when he started playing Joe who supposedly was 17. Carmen Peña turns 15 in the first episode ("Fiesta de Quinces") but her actress, Ana Margarita Menéndez was 18.
• Disowned Adaptation: Manolo Villaverde (Pepe) and Ana Margarita Martínez-Casado (Juana) were quite upset at not being asked to participate in the 2018 theatrical revival, yet having their images used for promotional purposes. All other surviving actors participated.
• No Budget:
  • The cast and crew forfeited their rights to royalties so that the show would remain free for educational purposes.
  • With no budget for sets, the executive producer used his personal belongings and shopped at thrift stores to decorate the Peña home.
• Special Thanks: "..To Burdines and Academia Cubana de Ballet" for the TV interview where Marta shows off her little girl's folk dancing.
• Throw It In!: In a 2017 interview with ''Remezcla'' head writer Luis Santeiro said that even though the show was required to be 50% English and 50% Spanish, they usually ended up with a little more Spanish because when Manolo Villaverde (Pepe) and Ana Margarita Martínez Casado (Juana) ad-libbed lines, they would do so in Spanish by default. Velia Martínez (Adela) would ad-lib in Spanish befitting her monolingual character, with phrases that came from her own mother.
