Trivia / Postal (2007)

Go To

  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Verne Troyer, Dave Foley, J. K. Simmons, and Larry Thomas all signed onto the movie against the advice of their agents because they wanted to be part of the film.
  • Cast the Runner-Up: Zack Ward had initially auditioned to play Officer Greg but the producers thought he was a better fit for the Postal Dude.
  • Creator Killer: The film was one of Uwe Boll's final projects that video game companies allowed to go forward. The controversy over the portrayal of Al-Qaeda in that film (which actually did not get much attention from the US government or George W. Bush, who got a Take That! in the film at the end), along with his then-ongoing string of crappy game movies that scored below 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, were all Not Screened for Critics, were mostly Box Office Bombs, and dealt crippling damage to the games the films were based off, resulted in Boll being essentially blacklisted by the gaming industry as a whole, which shot down attempts by Boll to direct the WarCraft film and a possible Metal Gear Solid film. All of Boll's video game movies after 2009 are sequels to movies he already did. After this he was reduced to a C-list director, before retiring from filmmaking entirely in 2016.
  • Disowned Adaptation: RWS, developer of the original games, included a Take That! to Uwe Boll in 2011's Postal III.
  • International Coproduction: The movie was an American-German co-production. Ironically enough, the games were banned in Germany even though the film was a German production and was directed by a German director. The movie is the only Postal-related content that is legally available in Germany.
  • Throw It In!: Dave Foley's nude scene, according to Uwe Boll in an interview. Foley was sitting down wearing only a robe and Boll instructed him to stand up. Apparently, neither of them anticipated that the robe would suddenly open. Boll found this so funny that he left it in.
