  • Breakthrough Hit:
    • "Apologize", more specifically the Timbaland remix of their song, brought the band to mainstream attention.
    • "Counting Stars", their first song in YouTube to have reached over 3 billion views by 2020, while the rest of their music videos can't even reach a billion. This brought them popularity in the new generation of The New '10s.
  • Promoted Fanboy: U2 is said to be one of Ryan Tedder's favorite bands for a long time and one of the main influences for OneRepublic. Tedder then had a chance to work with U2 as a producer for their album, Songs of Innocence, released in 2014.
  • Similarly Named Works: "Somebody to Love" is also the name of songs by Queen, Justin Bieber, and Jefferson Airplane, among others.
  • What Could Have Been: Initially the idea for the video of "If I Lose Myself" was to follow the actual meaning of the song and have footage of a falling plane, with people panicking and so on. However, since they though viewers would not want to watch such a scene on replay, the band chose the more cheerful and adventurous concept for the official video.
  • Ryan Tedder has cousins who recorded as the Country Music band The Clark Family Experience in the early 2000s, and reunited as Sons of Sylvia a decade later.
