• Acting for Two: In the original British version, Derek Griffiths voices both Bob and Corvax.
• All-Star Cast: The original films had a handful of well known English actors such as Jack May, Willie Rushton, Miriam Margolyes, Susan Sheridan, Derek Griffiths, Benjamin Whitrow and Peter Jones.
• Colbert Bump: The films wouldn't be nearly as well-remembered had it not been for the commercial that aired on multiple channels, especially Nickelodeon, for many years. The commercial is considered a staple for 90s kids.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The original versions of the films fell into this when official releases stopped being produced beginning in 2013 in favor of the All-CGI Cartoon version. As of January 2024, the official website does not acknowledge the existence of the earlier versions. Luckily, used copies of the originals can be found on various shopping sites for good prices.
• Non-Singing Voice: When the original versions of the films were dubbed with American voices in the DVD releases, the songs retain the original voices, making it jarring to some why certain characters like Bob and Corvax keep switching accents.
• Technology Marches On: The technology and computers Corvax uses look very outdated by today's standards. For example, the computer stores the data on enormous tape rolls instead of discs, and has very simple output screens with bad resolution. Tellingly, the technology is updated to look more modern in the CGI remake.
• Unfinished Dub: The Japanese side on the series only tackled the Vocabulary Builder segments and the two films were never dubbed.
• Uncredited Role:
  • The original films prior to being reedited had the credits on who voiced which character, but this only covers the main characters. Norman's wife wasn't credited until "Muzzy Comes Back".
  • The American DVDs on the original films had new voices for Bob, Sylvia, Corvax, Norman and Thimbo. But none of the American voices were credited
  • The non-English versions don't have any of their actors credited.
