General Trivia
- Approval of God: Toho Co. Ltd, the studio that created and still produces the Godzilla franchise in Japan to this day, has voiced their approval of this American franchise's take on Godzilla, considering it much more faithful to the creature's mythos than the previous American version, which they disowned (and even ridiculed in Godzilla: Final Wars).
- Ascended Fanon: The lizard-like Titan seen in Godzilla vs. Kong was given the nickname "Titanus Doug" by fans, which was canonized by the trailer for the GODZILLA x KONG: THE HUNTED comics.
- Executive Meddling: Comments made by Adam Wingard and the crossover with Activision's Call of Duty series reveal that Toho set in place a number of stipulations regarding Godzilla's portrayal following Godzilla: King of the Monsters — many of which were already broken by the various MonsterVerse movies. Among these rules are that Godzilla is to be a Single Specimen Species;note Godzilla cannot be shown running, jumping, or flying;note Godzilla cannot be shown eating or drinking; Godzilla has no known weaknesses; and that Godzilla cannot display emotion.note Even more bizarrely, one rule stipulates that Godzilla cannot be associated with the terms nuclear, atomic, or radioactive — despite his Breath Weapon being referred to as "Atomic Breath" in Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as the "Nuclear Pulse" he used to kill King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, with merchandise and spinoffs instead referring to as Godzilla's Breath Weapon as a "Heat Ray".
- Follow the Leader: The franchise is one of the most notable examples of the boon in cinematic shared universes that stemmed from the huge success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The New '10s, and one of the few that has managed to last along with the DC Extended Universe and The Conjuring Universe. So far, it's been largely free of the Executive Meddling that has plagued Marvel's competitors, minus Toho's bizarre stipulations. It is also important to note this is one of the franchises following the leader that already had a long history of crossover media before even the comic books-based Shared Universe concept hit it big.
