Trivia / Marlowe (2022)

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: Almost everyone with spoken lines is played by an established name in the film industy.
  • California Doubling: While ostensibly set in California, the movie was shot in Barcelona and Ireland, of all places.
  • Dawson Casting:
    • A truly bizarre case. While a lot of characters make remarks about his age, Marlowe is clearly not supposed to be 69, the age of Liam Neeson during production. The movie is set in 1939 and Marlowe is stated to be a veteran of World War I, which ended in 1918, meaning that Marlowe should be in his mid to late 40s or early 50s at the most. Otherwise the audience would have to assume Marlowe was pushing 50 when the war ended.
    • The 1939 setting also means that Dorothy Quincannon and Clare Cavendish have to be considerably younger than Jessica Lange and Diane Kruger were during filming (72 and 45 respectively), as Dorothy is said to have already been a famous movie actress when her daughter Clare was born, but the movie industry itself was only around 30 years old at the time, meaning that Clare should be in her early to mid 20s and Dorothy in her late 40s or early 50s for the math to add up. If Clare was 45, she'd be older than cinema itself in 1939.
  • Fake American: Of the cast, only Jessica Lange, Danny Huston and Patrick Muldoon are actual Americans.
  • Fake Nationality: A whole lot of Canadians and people from all over Europe played Americans and Mexicans.
