Trivia / Marc Mero

Go To

  • Approval of God: According to a 2021 interview with Marc, Little Richard not only loved the Johnny B Badd gimmick, but even suggested making a sitcom in which the two of them would be related. However, Richard had too many commitments so pulled out. When Little Richard died, his manager contacted Mero personally to inform him.
  • Breakup Breakout: Sable went on to become the most notable female face of WWE's Attitude Era (and one of the faces of the era overall, alongside "Stone Cold" Steve Austin), while Mero was left to bite the dust, making him an Alternate Company Equivalent to WCW's Steve "Mongo" McMichael, whose career was overshadowed by his ex-wife Debra (who incidentally went on to marry Austin).
  • Creative Differences: Mero left WCW after refusing to do an angle where Johnny B. Badd won Diamond Dallas Page's wife Kimberly Page as his valet, stating that his Christian beliefs forbade him from going on the road with another man's wife, even if it was just Kayfabe. Said beliefs clearly ceased to be an issue once he and Sable got to the WWF, inbetween him and Sable getting into a Domestic Abuse angle and him taking Jacqueline as a valet after Sable left him on-screen.
  • Recycled Script: WCW rehashed the Curt Hennig "injury" angle which cost Mero the Intercontinental Title less than a year later at WCW Fall Brawl on September 14, 1997. The main event was the nWo (Kevin Nash/Syxx/Buff Bagwell/Konnan) vs. The Four Horsemen (Ric Flair/Chris Benoit/Steve "Mongo" McMichael/Hennig) in WarGames. The nWo won after Hennig turned heel, destroying the Horsemen for a year.
