• Box Office Bomb: Budget: $10 million. Gross: $9.3 million. It nevertheless picked up a cult following, enough to earn it a TV spin-off ten years later.
• Franchise Killer: The first Saturday Night Live-based movie since The Ladies Man, and its failure made the possibility for any more moot.
• Star-Derailing Role:
  • The movie, coupled with him leaving Saturday Night Live not soon after, put Will Forte in a brief career slump. He quickly bounced back a few years later with Nebraska! and The Last Man on Earth.
  • By that same token, Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer's careers never quite recovered. The former became known for his role as Bob Lee in Shooter. The latter came back to reprise his Iceman role in Top Gun: Maverick.
