Trivia / LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2

  • Exiled from Continuity: Except Kang the Conqueror, no characters from Fantastic Four or X-Men physically show up in the game (though the former are referenced in some Character Card bios, such as Crystal of the Inhumans). What makes this particularly jarring is that many of those characters played significant roles in the previous game. Then Disney offered to buy out most of Fox's entertainment assets, including the franchises above, a month after the game was released. Despite the deal eventually being finalized less than two years after the game's release, no DLC featuring said characters was released.
  • Role Reprise: Sacha Dhawan reprises his role as Davos/Steel Serpent from Iron Fist (2017). Likewise, Tom Clarke Hill reprises Blade from the Blade II video game.
  • The Other Darrin: Enforced Trope. Almost all of the game's cast are played by different actors, due to the then-ongoing voice actors strike - the solution was to go across The Pond and employ British actors. The late Stan Lee was the only person to return since while he has done voice work in several video games, he was not a union actor.
  • Writer Revolt: Fantastic Four and X-Men characters failed to physically show up (aside from Kang) for what were very likely corporate reasons pertaining to Fox owning the movie rights to the characters at the time of the game's development and release. While the game doesn't get particularly aggressive toward the decision to omit X-Men and Fantastic Four characters just because Disney didn't own their movie rights at the time, the game still tries to vaguely allude to the absent characters, as well as mention them in some Character Card bios where possible, and takes the time to make fun of how baffling the whole ordeal is with an Asgardian cooking show being unable to show merchandise due to convoluted copyright laws. The X-Men trouble can also be explained by Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter's at the time desire to get rid of the X-Men and replace them with The Inhumans.
