• Actor Leaves, Character Dies: When Julian McMahon announced his exit from FBI: Most Wanted on January 2022, Dylan McDermott was cast as McMahon's replacement for the series on show producer Dick Wolf's recommendation. To facilitate McDermott's transfer to Most Wanted, his character Richard Wheatley was killed off in a car crash.
• The Other Darrin: Autumn Mirassou and Kaitlin Davidson respectively replace Erin Broderick and Patricia Cook as Maureen and Lizzie Stabler.
• Recast as a Regular: Counting only those who are recast as main characters here.
  • Guillermo Díaz played two different characters on both the parent series and SVU before being cast as Bill Brewster.
  • Michael Raymond-James played a Villain of the Week in the Season 12 finale of SVU^note Coincidentally Christopher Meloni's last episode as a regular there before returning to headline this very series before being cast as Jon Kosta.
  • Robin Lord Taylor guested thrice on the parent series as three different characters and then once in a Season 14 episode of SVU before being cast as Sebastian McClane.
  • Jennifer Beals guest starred on a Season 17 episode of the parent series before being cast as Cassandra Webb.
• Role Reprise:
  • Christopher Meloni makes his return as Stabler after 10 years from his departure from SVU.
  • Jeffrey Scaperrotta and Allison Siko both return as Elliot's children Dickie and Kathleen. Notable since the rest of their siblings are recast. This makes Dickie Stabler the only one of Stabler's children to have been played by a single actor (Kathleen was played by Holiday Segal in SVU's first season).
  • Dann Florek makes a guest appearance as Cragen after 6 years from his departure from SVU.
