• Cast the Runner-Up: Ashley Judd turned down a larger role because she was asked to do nude scenes. She responded, "My mother worked too hard for me to take my clothes off in my first movie." In fact she said in an interview that producers were asking her to take her clothes off since she first got into acting: "Well first of all, my first audition yielded a screen test and I was asked to take my shirt off. It was between another woman and me, and I said that isn't about our acting, that's about evaluating a pair of breasts. And the answer was not 'no' but 'hell, no!'"
• Underage Casting: Milla Jovovich was only 15 when she was cast as Kuffs' (pregnant!) girlfriend.
• Wag the Director: Because of his popularity as a teen idol, Christian Slater said he was asked to do a scene in his underwear. He refused, saying that it was too gratuitous.
• What Could Have Been: Fisher Stevens was the first choice for Ted Bukovsky but the producers wanted Tony Goldwyn who had just come off Ghost (1990).
• Working Title: Gun for Hire.
