Trivia / Junior Officers

  • Christmas Rushed: "New Year's" was a short chapter posted late on New Year's Eve.
  • Completely Different Title: The French translation changes the title to Les Octonauts juniors ("The Junior Octonauts").
  • Outdated by Canon: Deborah and her family (and to a lesser extent, Triton and Karina)'s anthropomorphism became outdated with the release of Octonauts: Above & Beyond, which confirms that deer, tigers, and kangaroos are not anthropomorphized in the Octonauts universe.
  • She Also Did: The author of this fic has also written a number of other fanfics, and is one of the original Strangers.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Deborah was originally a Valley Girl rather than a geek, who took the job to prove she's not dumb.
    • "Haddock, Rising Seas, and Gloria" was originally titled "Haddock, Rising Seas, and Gloria From School", but had to be shortened due to space limitations.
    • "The Fin Whale" was originally going to be the third chapter, but was pushed back and ended up being the tenth chapter instead.
    • The boy who tried to grab Donna was originally named George. Once the chapter was updated to include a boy named Harold who stopped him, his name was changed to Melvin.
    • "When a Boy Meets a Squirrel" was originally called "A Cat and Squirrel Game".
    • There were plans to have a subplot where Sarabi accidentally fed Shellington urchins (which he is allergic to) and during the mission, Deborah has to look after him and the creature they're helping. This is scrapped for two reasons; to make room for the Kelp Forest arc, and because it would have made Sarabi look like an irredeemable jerk.
    • "Whitefish and Lampreys" was originally called "The Mackenzie River".
    • There was originally going to be an episode about the Great Whale River. It was scrapped due to lack of information.
    • "Mystery on Daytona Beach" was originally going to be part of Season 1, but was pushed back and ended up releasing as part of Season 2.
    • Originally, the team on the raft in "River Riding Adventure" was Barnacles, Kwazii, Elekai, and Deborah. In the final version, Deborah was swapped out for Shellington.
    • Originally, "Valentine's Day" was going to be part of the Wedding Arc.
    • The Wedding Arc was originally going to open Season 3.
    • "Woman, Wife, Worker" was originally title "Working Woman".
  • Word of God:
    • Melvin's name change was because the author believed it was a bad idea to have the names George and Harold together in that context.
    • Deborah was thirteen when the skirt incident discussed in "One Step Forward" happened.
    • Elekai is from Port Moresby, New Guinea, Kitsune is from Iwaki, Japan, Deborah and Sarabi are from New Brunswick, Canada, and Lekona is from Aberdeen, Scotland.
    • Captain Argo is an African civet, Meg is a moose, and Finch is a fennec fox.
    • Margaret's ex was described as "darker" rather than outright being stated to be a moose in "Margaret's Story" was because that chapter was written for a grade, and the author had to cover up the characters being animals.
    • The Kedabory Verse Wiki assigns a Pokémon type, Yo-Kai tribe, and Skylands element to Elekai; he's a Steel type, Brave tribe, and Earth element.
