• Creator Backlash: SWE doesn't hate the first episode per se, but the insane amount of Development Hell it went through, several instances of Artist Disillusionment, the lack of passion for the source material, and having their hands full with two other ongoing abridged series made them refuse to work on another one despite popular demand (for now). During a stream, YamatoSFX stated that only one of three writers (Coffinjokey) wanted to continue the abridged series, while he and BuddyVA wished to leave it as a standalone.
• Creator's Pest: Perhaps jokingly, SWE cited Smartphhone as the Annoying Younger Sibling of their three major abridged series, and they always jump at the opportunity to poke fun at it or its source material. Their fanbase quickly latched on to this, and fired back with many demands that they make a sequel.
• Development Hell: According to YamatoSFX, the first episode alone took almost five years to complete. Granted, he claims that most of it was simply due to him working on other stuff, but it still allegedly took a heavy toll on the writing team.
• Real Song Theme Tune: The opening uses the Carly Rae Jepsen song Call Me Maybe.
• Trolling Creator: After several years trapped in Development Hell, SWE released the first episode during their SWE 10th Anniversary SAOA Marathon Extravaganza!!!, instead of the long-awaited seventeenth episode of Sword Art Online Abridged, which they had previously teased would premiere after the stream. Reportedly, about half of the stream's audience abandoned the chat out of anger, only for SWE to release SAOA 17 immediately afterwards anyways.
