Trivia / Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco

Go To

  • California Doubling: Played straight and averted at the same time. The plot was kickstarted by the Seaver family taking a vacation to Canada. Ironically, the film was largely shot in Vancouver, with about 30% of it actually being filmed in San Francisco.
  • Reality Subtext: Chance may have been recast as a Boxer because Boxers can jump as high as Chance did at the end of the film and American Bulldogs can't.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Following Don Ameche's passing (the first Homeward Bound was his second-to-last film role), Shadow was voiced in the sequel by Ralph Waite.
    • At least some (if not all) of the animals were recast. Less obvious, but Chance's spots were a different color.
      • Chance was actually played by dog of an entirely different breed in this film. While he was portrayed in the first film by an American Bulldog, in this film, he's a Boxer. He’s still referred to as an American Bulldog, though. And both breeds look a lot alike anyway.
