Nightmare Fuel / Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco

• The main cast sitting on the runway thinking that the aircraft that their owners are on will stop and pick them up. Said plane lifts off right before it would've run them over.
• Even the dog antagonists Ashcan and Pete, while Laughably Evil, get this one particularly scary moment as Ashcan fights Shadow:
  Pete: Hey, Cat. Your friend's a goner. I've seen Ashcan kill a dog just for stepping on his tail.
  Shadow: Sassy, go! See if you can find help!
  Pete: See? (chuckles sinisterly)
  Sassy: (genuinly frightened) Oh my, oh my...
  • Although, Pete’s laugh is so goofy, it comes off as Nightmare Retardant.
• The whole fire scene might cause nightmares, especially for the parents in the audience.
• While Jack and Ralph, the dog catchers, aren't exactly the most threatening villains either, their intentions for capturing dogs is very dark for a family movie. Riley refers to who they work for as "the lab" which invokes many disturbing implications of cruel animal experimentation. Jack even says this to Chance when they catch him:
  Jack: You know where you're going, don't you? You're going to the lab, my friend. They're gonna wire you up like a freakin' Christmas tree!
  • Oh, and Jack and his lit cigarette are responsible for that aforementioned fire. Guy has no moral center.
• Chance is so depressed about leaving Delilah that he doesn't notice an oncoming truck driving towards him even as Sassy and Shadow try to warn him until he hears the truck's horn. The Seavers, who were driving behind the truck, believe he was accidentally hit by it, leaving poor Jamie in tears. Chance managed to dodge the truck, but just barely.
