• Acting for Two:
  • Cell, who is voiced by Takahata101, is housemates with Guru, who is also voiced by Taka. Taka also voices Guldo.
  • Nick Landis, AKA Lanipator, voices Goz, Raditz, and Bojack.
  • Marc Soskin, AKA Ganxingba, voices Ginyu Force members Recoome and Jeice.
  • Scott Frerichs, AKA KaiserNeko voices both Zarbon and Burter.
  • Anthony Sardinha, AKA Antfish voices both Dodoria and Captain Ginyu.
• Author's Saving Throw:
  • After a number of fans pointed out that, since he has Piccolo's regeneration powers, Cell could just cut off his leg to remove the bracelet with no consequence, the first bits of episode 2 has him trying, and Raditz saying that, since their souls are basically indestructible, it's a lost cause (which was confirmed in the DBZA commentary by Lani and Kaiser to specifically address this tactic); and that they wouldn't be given the bracelets if it was possible to remove them, nor any objects with which to do so. It also points out other aspects of why no one has tried to escape — Raditz tried, but the ki suppressors are also trackers, and even if that wasn't the case, there's nowhere to escape to. There was an exit (the one Goku used to escape Hell), but it's been boarded up.
  • Dodoria in the abridged series was revealed as a woman in an Unsettling Gender-Reveal, however, the manner in which they went about it can come off as transphobic^note Dodoria reveals herself to be a woman with a masculine voice, she's met with revulsion before she's killed off as a joke- something that's not too far off from someone revealing themselves as transgender and getting killed for it, which has been acknowledged by the creators themselves. In this series, Dodoria's gender is treated respectfully and accepted like anything else.
  • Goz telling Mez to "prepare the camps" when the Ginyu Force arrives in HFIL in "Freeza Burn" was originally presented as a Holocaust joke, as well as playing on the stereotype that All Germans Are Nazis. "O Captain! My Captain!" reveals that Goz was actually referring to a campsite to house the new arrivals, and that the Ginyus were quickly able to build a house of their own.
• In Memoriam: Episode 3 starts with one for Chris Ayres, the English voice of Freeza in Dragon Ball Z Kai and onwards in the franchise, who sadly passed away October 2021.
• The Original Darrin: Lanipator is back to voicing Raditz, although Lani did voice Raditz briefly in Kai Abridged Episode 1.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Mez and King Cold, who were originally voiced by hbi2k, are now voiced by Stephan Krosecz and DevilArtemis respectively.
  • Kaiser clarified on Twitter that Chris Guerrero was unavailable to reprise as Cooler for HFIL, but has given his blessing to recast for the character; who is now played by Connor "DistortionDevil" McKinley.
  • Lanipator takes over playing Bojack, who was previously played by Vegeta3986 before he left the series.
• Promoted Fanboy: DevilArtemis started making his own "Cell Vs" videos inspired by the ones from Dragon Ball Z Abridged, now he's working with Team Four Star in HFIL.
• Release Date Change: As revealed in the Talkcast Podshow, the premiere of this series was originally intended to be in April 2021. However, due to some Troubled Production on an installment of Dragon ShortZ that caused it to miss its debut during the Spring Showcase, this series premiered in its place, as the first episode was already mostly finished.
• Role Reprise:
  • LittleKuriboh is back playing Freeza, four days shy of eight real-time years since Trunks sliced him to pieces and vaporized them in DBZA. While he did previously reprise the role three times before, once in "Plan to Eradicate Christmas", once in a Post-Credits Scene cameo on Log Horizon Abridged, and then once more in the third Kai Abridged Episode; the first was a movie, the second an entirely separate series, and the last being a parody recapping the entirety of the Cell Saga, thus non-canon to DBZA.
  • Marc "Ganxingba" Soskin has mostly retired from voice-acting in favor of a career in professional game development. However, he reprised his roles as King Yemma, Recoome, and Jeice for the series.
  • Takahata plays Guldo again after a nearly 7-year gap since he was last seen in DBZA.
• Spoiled by the Cast List: Both Lanipator and Connor "DistortionDevil" McKinley are listed in the video description of Episode 9 as playing two characters known as "B" and "C" respectively. The credits of the episode itself omits the letters, but still includes McKinley's name in the list of voice actors. The Stinger of the episode shows that Lanipator and McKinley voice Bojack and Cooler respectively.
• Uncredited Role: Due to the above mentioned Schedule Slip of Dragon ShortZ that forced HFIL to take its place, this made the final polishing of the first episode somewhat rushed, leading to KaiserNeko accidentally neglecting to credit LittleKuriboh for his Role Reprise as Freeza in the first episode’s credits.
• You Sound Familiar: Connor "DistortionDevil" McKinley first played Paragus in the BROLY Abridged movie, along with some bit parts during DBZA's third season before playing Cooler in HFIL.
