  • Creator Backlash:
    • Benji outright told fans not to buy the Greatest Hits Album released by Sony Music in 2010, due to the band having no involvement in its release.
    • Averted with both Madden brothers defending the band's So Okay, It's Average fourth album Good Morning Revival in their 2016 interview. Benji said that the band in the mid noughties was in a dire situation between releasing a new album or quit making music althogether, and repeating The Young and the Hopeless formula without trying something new would mean giving up. Joel even went as far as claiming the fourth album as his personal favorite, where he and his bandmates matured and worked cohesively as musicians.

  • DVD Commentary: The "Greatest Videos" DVD featured Joel, Benji, Paul and Billy, along with the respective directors of the videos, providing a commentary for each of the band's music videos prior to "Hold On".
  • Executive Meddling: The band had no involvement in the release of their Greatest Hits Album; it was instead released by their former label Sony Music shortly after the release of Cardiology.

    • Dean Butterworth is the drummer and leader of the in-house band for Hollywood Game Night.
    • Billy Martin has published his own comic, Vitriol The Hunter, and has done artwork for IDW, DC Comics & Marvel Comics. He also provided the album artwork for The Chronicles of Life and Death, and the artwork used in the music video for the album's title track.
    • Joel Madden served as a coach on The Voice Australia for five seasons, with Benji joining him for the latter two. Joel also served as the host of the fourteenth season of Ink Master.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Bootlegs never saw a retail or digital release and was only sold as part of a bundle alongside The Chronicles of Life and Death through the band's website in 2004. It also stands as Good Charlotte's only live album, as of 2023.
  • Meaningful Release Date: "Last December" was released as a standalone single in 2020 to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the band's first album.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: Provided "The Click" for Undergrads.
  • Similarly Named Works: Good Charlotte have two songs named "War" - one was included on the iTunes exclusive deluxe edition of Greatest Remixes in 2010, and the second was included on Youth Authority in 2016. Beyond having the same name, they are otherwise different songs.
  • Torch the Franchise and Run: After the decision to go on hiatus after Cardiology in 2011, the band proceeded to sell off all of their remaining merchandise & even went so far as to take their website offline, wanting to go out with a clean slate.
  • Writer Revolt: Cardiology was originally produced by Howard Benson. After he removed the first two verses of "1979" without listening to the lyrics & the band preferred the demo versions of the songs recorded for the album to the versions with Benson's involvement, they reunited with Don Gilmore & re-recorded the entire album.
