Trivia / Genji Tsuushin Agedama

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices:
    • Agedama is a rare aversion of this despite his age (most young anime male protagonists around his age have been often portrayed by women, especially around this time), but his word-processing companion, Wapro plays this straight, being voiced by Kumiko Watanabe.
    • Both of the voices of Ibuki's younger brother Kodoma were both those of women.
  • Digital Destruction: The anime had already been known for using optical sound instead of stereo during its original televised run. While the laserdisc releases were able to maintain the level of sound quality, the recent DVD set released in 2021 has been noted to have worse audio, being slightly muffled in comparison.
  • No Export for You: The series was never released outside of Japan, not even under a subtitled-only release. It's understandable since many of the things it parodies are mainly specific to Japanese culture.
    • Hong Kong was much luckier, as the country had it on both Cable TV and ATV as 電腦小奇侠。
  • Playing Against Type: While not the case in the early 90's, Agedama would definitely be this for the modern day Nozomu Sasaki, especially now that his voice tone is completely different from what it used to be in the early 90s.
  • The Other Darrin: Kodoma was initially voiced by Satomi Koorogi in episode 6 before being replaced by Ikue Otani from episode 13 onwards.
  • Referenced by...: Smile Pretty Cure! as Miyuki frequently shouts "KIAI DA!!!" much like Agedama.
  • Star-Making Role: Rei is this for Sakiko Tamagawa
  • Technology Marches On: Wapro is a based on the several Word-processing devices that were once commonplace in Japan. They devices have since fallen out of relevance in favor of all-in-one personal computers with word processing applications.
