Trivia / G-Men '75

Go To

  • The Danza: Yasuaki Kurata as Detective Yasuaki Kusano.
  • Dueling Works: With Taiyo Ni Hoero, while G-Men '82, the Sequel Series, was this to Seibu Keisatsu.
  • Hostility on the Set: Yu Fujiki tended to argue a lot with Teru Kondo, culminating in his leaving the show following Episode 204.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Grand Finale was not rerun on Japanese TV for several years because it was produced by Teru Kondo Productions rather than Toei as with the rest of the series, resulting in a legal rights issue. Thankfully, the rights issues were cleared up in 2009 and the episode was rerun on the Family Theatre channel, and was included in the G-Men '82 DVD release beforehand.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Members of the show's original cast, namely Daijiro Harada, Yu Fujiki, and Yosuke Natsuki all left the show because of disputes with Teru Kondo.
    • Harada however, said that he left the show due to complications coming from tendonitis after an on-set accident during the filming of Episode 4. It should be noted, however, that Yosukue Natsuki and Mihoko Fujita have since disputed this.
  • Recycled Script:
    • Some of the episode plots were reworked from Key Hunter, and ended up becoming Darker and Edgier remakes.
    • The show itself was also guilty of doing this for its own episodes. Episodes 330-331 are basically a remake of the first, recycled to take place in Singapore. Both feature big drug smuggling syndicates, senior policemen turning out to be The Mole for them, and a detective's fiancee turning out to be a drug mule.
    • There are at least three episodes that involve perps masquerading as motorbike cops.
  • What Might Have Been: Katsuhiko Yokomitsu, who ended up playing Detective Kurebayashi in Tokusou Saizensen, was originally slated to replace Daijiro Harada following the latter's departure. He was already a familiar face on the show, as he had guest starred several episodes prior. However, on the second day of filming the updated version of the show's opening, Yokomitsu apparently wore a different tie from the day before, and was fired on the spot by Teru Kondo. This was known the "tie incident", and was recounted in Yosuke Natsuki's biography, The Age of the Stars, along with a promotional photo of Yokomitsu with the rest of the cast.
  • You Look Familiar: Go Wakayabashi Hiroshi Chiba Yusuke Kawazu Bunjaku Han Kyoko Enami and Masahiko Tanimura all made guest appearances on the show before joining the cast.
