Trivia / Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

Go To

  • Ascended Fanon: A common headcanon or fanfiction plot for the original game would see Sylvain mistaking Yuri for a woman and hitting on him, and then potentially remaining attracted to him after discovering his real gender. In their supports, this actually happens, with Sylvain even mentioning that he's "kind of into it" when Yuri flirtatiously jokes about becoming his lover.
  • Author's Saving Throw: In an interview with Nintendo Dream, the developers said they wanted Three Hopes to address some unfinished story elements from Three Houses, such as Edelgard fighting those who slither in the dark, Dimitri learning the truth about the Tragedy of Duscur, and Claude overcoming a huge obstacle to realize his dreams.
  • Content Leak:
    • A trio of screenshots were released early on the game’s Japanese Amazon page, revealing both the game’s UI and Mercedes’ new design, as well as revealing that Shez was the new protagonist rather than Byleth shortly ahead of the trailer depicting as much.
    • After the demo was released, hackers were able to datamine it and find a lot of information related to the full game, including the full roster and story information.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The games voice directors are series regular Patrick Seitz, voice of Jeritza, and Christian La Monte, voice of Ignatz.
  • Dummied Out:
    • The banner of Silver Snow's Resistance Army can be found within Three Hopes' files, but it's never used (likely due to the circumstances behind it not being able to happen on this game).
    • Similar to the above, portraits for the child versions of Edelgard and Dimitri used in Three Houses' Azure Moon route are also present among the game's graphics but go unused.
    • Both the datamine and the game's artbook revealed Petra has an unused post-timeskip portrait of her wearing glasses, similar to the ones used in Three Houses in her supports with Ignatz.
    • A datamine of the game revealed there is a finished 3D model meant for Hegemon Edelgard on its files. It's presence is notable as this form of Edelgard is only ever used once in Three Hopes and in a pre-rendered movie to boot, meaning it gets no actual use in the game's engine.
    • Thales, Solon, Kronya, Cornelia, Rufus and Nader have unused lines meant to be used as playable units and when interacting with others (mostly with characters related to them), which are never used in the base game.
  • The Other Darrin: Brent Mukai provided the voice of Kostas and Nader, following Brad Venable's passing in 2021.
  • Posthumous Credit: While Ferdinand's English voice actor Billy Kametz sadly passed away on June 9th, 2022, a day after the demo was released, he completed his voice work months beforehand.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
  • Refitted for Sequel:
    • In Three Houses' datamine, it was discovered there was an extra member of "those who slither in the dark" named Cleobulus who ended up scrapped. Three Hopes makes use of this member by revealing Cleobulus is the fake Cornelia's true identity.
    • In the last Nintendo Dream interview made for Three Houses, the developers revealed there were plans to reveal in Verdant Wind that Claude's name was an alias and that his true name was Khalid, but ended up going against the idea due to coming off as too forced. Come Three Hopes, and in the prologue of Golden Wildfire, the Almyran prince Shahid gets to call Claude by his actual name.
    • It was discovered that Hilda and Dorothea, and Bernadetta and Marianne, could potentially have special bonds in the original game. This indicates that they were going to be able to support with each other, but these were cut for unknown reasons. Come this game, and now the Bernadetta/Marianne and Dorothea/Hilda supports have been made a reality.
    • In the original game, Thales has a Dummied Out sword called Ridill. It's made wieldable here as a New Game Plus bonus.
    • Assets for female Tricksters were made for Three Houses' DLC waves but went unused. As Tricksters become common enemies in Three Hopes' lategame, this is no longer the case.
    • Many characters that appear in Three Hopes were originally planned to appear in Three Houses, but could not make the cut; Holst and Count Bergliez for instance.
  • Swan Song: Billy Kametz's reprisal of Ferdinand von Aegir would be one of his final roles before passing away in June 2022, alongside his role in AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative, which came out the same day.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original plan for the game was to be effectively a Fire Emblem Warriors sequel set in Fódlan where some kind of "portal" allowed other games' characters to appear. Shortly after this idea though, the developers realized this would lessen Three Houses as a game, so they scrapped the idea.
    • Monstrous foes were almost cut from the game, due to concerns about how to translate them to the genre. A staff member who worked on the original Three Houses urged them not to cut them, since they were a core part of the setting.
    • Data found in the game shows that the Hero class was originally going to be in the game as an Advanced Class. Given that most Advanced classes play similar to the class before them (even mounted classes share the same moveset while dismounted), and the moveset being almost the same as Mercenary, it seems Hero was meant to be an alternative to Swordmaster as a sword class since Mercenary's moveset is generally slower, making it better for characters not very fast, but ultimately it was not used in the end despite there being generic characters who use it.
    • Datamine revealed that in the internal index for animated movies, an entry for an "Alternate Path" version of the movie "A Lingering Azure Gleam" (Azure Gleam's final cutscene) is listed in the game's strings, but goes unused. Given the Scarlet Blaze route contains an "Alternate Path" variation of its ending cutscene ("Smoldering Scarlet Blaze"), which is used only if Byleth had been recruited and the Epimenides' chapters had taken place, this reveals a similar idea was considered for Azure Gleam as well at one point in development.
